Well I'd tell my ex I loved him too, even though I didn't mean it.

I was in the same situation a while back. He told me he loved me everyday before we hung up on the phone and after we see each other after work. One day he asked me, "do you not love me?". I simply told him that I do have a strong "friendship" and "i care for you" kinda love. i just needed some time to let that certain love turn into something more. Love isn't something you rush or just say because it feels right. Love is a little more. It starts out as friends but then when the sparks fly a little higher and you truely feel it and can't stop thinking about it, then you tell him that you do love him. You gotta just simply tell him, " honey, i know you do. But please understand the reason why i am not saying it back to you. Your love grew a little faster than me. please give me some time to let our friendship and our lust grow a little more so one day i can feel the same way you do. (guys are a little bit more sensitive about this situation. especially when they are the ones who say it first.) If he respects you and really does love you, he will be patient because love is patient.
I really dont know your situation as well as you do, but after i told my boy what i just wrote to you, i asked him to tell me he loved me in other ways besides telling me upfront. it makes the situation easier that way you don't have to hear it all the time. It actually takes the stress of forcing yourself to say it back to him when you really don't feel it. Good Luck!!!!

I am assuming you are the female in the relationship and are inquiring about a guy. Explain that you love them as a PERSON but it is not the kind of love you would feel towards a parnter. Be very clear and adamant in your communication so there are not any mixed signals.

well thats up to u really? i mean do u like him at least. some people fall 4 others too quickly...while it takes time 4 the other to feel the same...if it bothers u then tell them that ur not ready 4 that kind of serious relationship.

Just give it time. if you do have feelings for this guy then give it time and tell him that you dont want to say it until you mean it. Trust me he will understand. Tell him that you dont want to rush into anything yet. That you want to take your time with things and if he dont understand that then leave his ***. I would. But thats all i know on that matter...

explain to them nicely you dont feel the same way but your flattered that they love you, they may be a little bit hurt, but not as much as saying to them rudely you dont love them

Its hard, but you have to tell them.
You can't wait a while, that would be hurtfull, Everyone's feelings are different, and its alright that you don't feel the same. Were only human, and we do the best we can do

I'd tell them how flattered I am that they felt that way, but I wouldn't return the "I love you" unless I meant it, and I'm sorry that I don't.
