How should I react if he is changing our date for football party?

He changes our dating plan so he can go to football party. Those kind of get together and BBQ stuff and talk about football. He called and told me that. I was cool and very understanding..said we can do it later. Somehow I sense that he expected me to be mad or throwing a tantrum about it. ( like some might do).. Am I thinking too much? would he think that I don't care- that why I was cool about it.. I do care but hey..guy and his football..I'd rather not come between that. So what should I react? (for future reference)

I think you handled it well. If he's a smart guy, he'll appreciate the fact you were cool with it.
