I wouldn't worry about it. Peanut butter is high in protein and very good for you. If it were me, I might switch to a jar of natural peanut butter to cut back on salt and sugar, but she is craving a pretty healthy food. Good for her:)

This might be her security thing, like something that she brings from home that she is comfortable.
I am sure she will outgrow it, however keep in mind that its not a bad thing, Your daughter is getting protien and as long as she isn't switching her sandwhich with someone else once she gets to school than I really wouldn't worry about it.
She is only 8, believe me when I say she will out grow a lot of things, but she may always enjoy those peanut butter sandwiches. (smiles)

Hey I am 26 and still eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all the time. I am also healthy. Not overweight and happy. She might outgrow it, just be sure to included other things in her lunch like carrot sticks and fruits.

kids are so funny with eating. My little girl used to eat only pb and jelly and chips. I have learned to try to incorporate lunchables into her diet, fresh fruit, and vegetables. She has taken well to this suggestion. She wanted this hello kitty lunchbox. I promised I would buy the lunch box if she tried the lunchable for one day of lunch. That Friday she did it. I made a big deal about it and we went straight to target and I kept my promise. Dinner has been tough also. at first she refused to eat anything but chicken nuggets or pizza. When I eliminated these options she threw a fit. Kids will not starve. she has started trying different things and is amazed that she likes them. I praise her for tasting new foods. I admit that sometimes I manipulate her by telling her that her friends eat them all the time. I know that most of this is a power struggle and fear of trying unfamiliar things. I have been advised that I am the parent and she is the child. So I try not to consult her any longer. For lunch I have not gotten to a meat and cheese sandwich but at least the crackers, meat and cheese is a big step. I have made desserts and sweet treats privileges. I would just try preparing different options for her with a small reward system. Maybe start with one day a week a different kind of sandwich. At the end of the week take her for a treat. the next week try two days and so on. find out something she wants that is affordable or a place she would like to visit. Last night she tried pasta with alfedo sauce and loved it. We got a 1.00 snow cone on the way home and we added one new option to her short list of things she loves to eat. Good luck

Peanut butter sandwiches should be fine for her to eat. At 8 she may still be in tune with her body enough to know what she needs. Let her have the peanut butter and she'll eventually want something else.

Be thankful that where you live they have not banned peanut butter and other nuts from the school. I live in Ontario, Canada and in my area you are not allowed to take any kind of nuts to school due to allergies.
Don't worry about your daugther outgrowing her love of peanut butter sandwiches. I still enjoy them, in my thirties.

I used to eat peanut butter sandwiches all the time myself. Eventually I started to put in some jelly and bananas. Don't worry about it.

Please don't worry and please allow her to have these sandwiches when she wants them. She is eating healthy. Recently I was reading in a health magazine how benefical pb is for a person.
Peanut butter builds muscle and burns fat. Three tablespoons per day guarantees benefit without overloading fat.
Not only that, but a pb sandwich with a carton of milk is considered a balanced meal. Use wheat bread (the Sara Lee white wheat bread is awesome!!) for even healthier choices.

sometimes kids are picky. my two boys love PB&J sandwhiches too.
my 8 year old son...prefers PB&J to anyother sandwhich, but i pack a different lunch every day. whether he eats it or not is another story. eventually they DO outgrow this...but for now, i wouldn't worry about it.
i usually let my kids pick out different things they might like to have when i go grocery shopping. this allows them to have control over their lunches, instead of just saying "NO YOU WILL EAT WHAT I MAKE!" it sounds simple, and it IS, but you get more coperation when you ask them to help pick things out...rather than just telling them what they HAVE to eat.
my son, has now this year desided he would like to try the lunchables...and he will also eat the little pasta bowels, like spegetti Os. i just pack it in a thermos.
i also make sure i add fruit that they like.
in time she will enjoy more than just PB&J.
