I personally think you have to be a little mad to be a genius. There is no doubt that he was a brilliant painter, but if you look at some of his paintings, there was definitely a very disturbed individual in there.

He was both! He said a psychiatrist examined him and pronounced him a paranoic, and he says that is the best kind of crazy. Inspired by that, he developed his "paranoic and critical method". He knew much about painting. I learned much from his book "50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship". Modern artists must be weird, so much of his eccentricity was playing a role. If one really studies him, he cannot dismiss Dali as just a madman.

Dali is definitely insane. That still doesn't change the fact that he is, in my opinion, the most brilliant man who ever lived. Its really it mind boggling how one man can create so much art in one lifetime. In the Dali museum in St. Petesi realized that in all of my days i could never accomplish so much. Then i remembered that he has museums all over the world, including japan. he must have never slept. I really don't understand. He is my all time favorite artist.

I believe he was both the paintings he made show that he was a genius but in order to paint the way he did he also had to be mad else he couldn't have done it. At least that's the way I see it.

to see a dahli painting up close is be in the presence of a master,however i believe the man to be flawed, in my opinion he cheapend his work by stamping them instead of signing , he stamped blank sheets for atrist to copy and sell, i dont believe him to be insane but an eccentric dali at his best is to be in the presence of a genius.
