I would start saving your $$$ to show them you are responsible, and then ask if you buy the paint if they will help you do something different with your walls.

Put together a plan to show them and it just might work, if they realize you have put this much thoguht into it!

Best of luck

So get some cotton fabric (the ladies at the fabric store can help you figure how much) and liquid starch. Then put up just like wallpaper. It stays like wallpaper, but peels down easily and then you just wash starch off walls.
If you asked them and offered to pay for it I bet they'd let you. Cause it is not permanent.
Also couple of tips to keep price down- buy muslin and dye it the colour you want. Wash once before using on walls though, otherwise the colour may bleed onto walls.
And if you have a lot of furniture along the walls, just do what you see, not the whole thing floor to ceiling.

tell your parents that you will pay for it and if your not that old then get together all the cost and show them that you can research it and that you are grown up enough to have a room makeover you should be able to get your room repainted for under $100 and if your going for an odd color you should include the cost of the paint to put it back to a normal color in your pricing that you get together....this will show them that you are serious about this...however if your parents do not own the property they may not be able to let you paint...hope this helps and good luck, just remember approach it like an adult and your more likely to get treated like one.

Go shopping for some large fabric tapestries. They aren't that expensive and they cover lots of wall space. I hung some up in the bedroom of my apartment (which has a hideous color of paint on the walls) with some 3M stick up hooks (that remove easily and without damage). It will totally change the feel of your room.

Good luck and enjoy the rent-free living.

try to reason with your parents. and get them to let you do a few extra jobs around the house in trade for the "updating" to your room

Quit complaining and be thankful that your parents provide you with your own room.
