Many Forest Preserve or Nature Reserve areas have lots of props and usually don't require permission unless you're bringing 10 cameramen and a truck for special lighting an all that. As long as you're not going to hurt the habitat - probably no permission required. Great places for photo shoots are Conservation parks. We photographed my wedding at one and we just let them know we would like to do that and it wasn't a problem at all. You probably want to try building partnerships with other professionals such as a bed and breakfast where they get some free advertising and you have the opportunity to benefit from doing a photo shoot using their beautiful home.

it usually isn't hard to ask permission, (i'm a photographer too) but on of my favorite spots is old rail road tracks, or behind old ware houses, or a vacant house (although that usually requires permission). parks are great, or a big field, and shooting the pictures so you only see the grass and the subject.

Anywhere can become a great spot for a photoshoot. Going to a park would be pretty good.
