You may have noticed a more frequent need to pee even before you realized you were pregnant. In fact, it's one of the most common early signs of pregnancy, starting about six weeks into your first trimester.

Why do you suddenly need to go all the time? It's mostly because the amount of blood in your body increases dramatically when you get pregnant, which leads to a lot of extra fluid getting processed through your kidneys and ending up in your bladder. Eventually, you may also feel pressure on your bladder from your growing uterus.

You may notice that you need to get up to pee more often during the night in particular. That's because when you lie down, some of the fluid that you retained in your legs and feet during the day makes its way back into your bloodstream and eventually into your bladder.

Some pregnancy books say that you'll begin to feel some relief early in your second trimester as your uterus rises out of your pelvis, but research doesn't support this idea. The fact is, you may not get that fabled second trimester break at all.

In one study in which pregnant women actually measured how often and how much they urinated, researchers found that both the frequency and volume increased over the course of the women's pregnancies, with no relief in the second trimester.

Try not to let this get you down, though. You'll probably feel better in other ways during the second trimester and, as a result, you may find it less of a chore to be running to the bathroom all the time.

The thing that many people mix up is that they think frequent urination is a 'sign' of pregnancy. It is not. The frequent urination doesn't really happen til your quite a ways along. Like 6 months. Depending on how quickly you show. The reason you have frequent urination is because the baby is pressing on the bladder. It can be both. Alot of flow or a little. Every pregnancy is different. I'm not sure if your asking if your pregnant or not. If you are and your not sure if you are pregnant or not..go take a test. The best test is a blood test administered by health professionals. Its nearly 100%.

Usually in early pregnancy, because of the changes in hormones, you feel the URGE to go more frequently. And it may not be true that you physically HAVE to pee, you just feel like you need to. Then when you DO run to the bathroom, it might be just a small amount of urine.
Later in pregnancy, the baby starts taking up the available space and then the bladder is just crowded, which is a different situation!
Good luck!

What happens when you are pregnant is you have increased pressure on the bladder. So you may be holding only a small amount of urine but with this increased pressure you are going to feel like you are bursting at the bladder like a race horse and when you go...just a little bit. This also makes you pee alot more during the night. But most of all, enjoy your preganacy and do not worry about anything else, it is all natural.

pregnancy doesn't really change the amount of urine just the frequency because as the baby grows you have less room for things like your bladder and other organs.

Same amount of urine but because your uterus is growing it makes your bladder hold less which causes you to urinate more frequently

lol
I have been there.
Sometimes you may feel like your about to wet your pants because you have to go so bad and when you go it is only a trickle. You have to go a lot because they baby puts pressure on your bladder. It's not the fact that your bladder is completely full its that your baby is squishing it to make it much smaller so you have to go more often.
Hope that cleared that up for you.

We have lots of pregnant girls. Your bladder has the weight of the baby on it and it is therefore smaller and holds less.
farther into the pregnancy you will have to go even more often.
And if you laugh, wops there it comes. Get used to it maybe til the pregnancy is over.

It could be either. Honestly, just wait for your pregnancy test to come out positive or negative.

I didn't notice increased urination until sometime AFTER my test came out positive.

You may just have to wait.

umm im not sure i just had my child on may 22. i think maybe its both. depends maybe on how much water and or fluids you drink as well. BELIEVE ME ...DRINK WATER!!!!!!! PLENTY OF IT! if you swell up water helps flush out the system and therefore it takes the extra fluid out the body that makes you swell up. so if u do go a lot but u r also drinking plenty of water im guessing youd probably urinate a lot and more frequently......do you have doctor or midwife? if you do theyd be able to tell you..just to make sure its normal either way it goes
