Yes, I also did electricity. It wasn't my favorite subject though. Trying to figure out how to properly wire a 3 or 4 way switch was a bit confusing.

I'm a half-century old, and OWN my own table saw, circular saw, tile saw, chain saw, planer ... etc etc etc. I picked up the skills just renovating my own residence -- after I retired from the Military (and got a lot of use of my tools while in the Military). Oh, by the way, my background is in the Professions (and not the building trade -- I have graduate degrees). So YES, Older women than you have done a lot with tools and building professions and do just fine -- in fact, I know other women my age (or a bit younger) who are confidently renovating their own residences as well.

Probably not a good idea for the longevity of the circular saw. Most circular saws have a motor with a limited duty cycle, that is, you cant run it continuously without it overheating. These saws were meant for cutting a rafter or stud, and then sitting around for a while before the next cut.. Table saws have an induction type motor, mostly capacitor types, which can run all day long. It would probably be best to get one of each type of saw. You could buy a used table saw, since the good ones are usually built to last forever. I have seen a lot of the older (pre 1980's) Craftsman table saws out there and most of them are in perfect working order. Happy hacking!

I am a registered nurse manager of a hospice now. But, I was a class A welder 20yrs. ago at a factory in town. I had a small child to raise and a secretary's salary back then was "squat", wouldn't even have paid the babysitter. I can also use a nail gun and a circular saw. My boyfriend and I just built a deck on the house. Looks good too. Go ahead, build beautiful things, there's no reason why a woman can't do construction. I actually enjoyed my job as a welder but it's just too damn hot in the summer in MS for this ole gal to be welding. I do require air conditioning at this point in my life.

I can use all of them my husband owned his own construction business besides the regular paperwork I got my hands dirty just like the guys, I don't really like the air nailer and would not use it if I didn't have to but have used it as well as the circular saw (I am in the process of rebuilding a deck and door), I have used the table saw it is ok it does make some projects easier but I'll use the circular saw anyday!!!!

Well, I'm not trained like you, so I probably can't do it so well, but I'm pretty good at basic carpentry and I'm a bricklaying fiend!

Did you do any electronics at all? I loved making electronic circuits (even if I did occasionally frazzle my hair with the soldering iron).
