I was answering questions earlier and I just got really sick to my stomach at the hate toward anyone with faith. Regardless of their creed. So why? Is it wrong to beleive? My life was saved from things that haunt me when I think about it. God is real...in any form you chose to beleive. Why all the hate?

Forgive me if I put anyone in a category that they don't belong in. I'm just trying to understand. God is so real to me...it's just hard sometimes to understand why people can't accept that and let me be. I love everyone, I think that your choice is just that your choice, and it is NEVER my place to judge or attempt sway you. I live by faith, Lean on his presence, walk by patience, lifted by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power. So that every morning when I rise I know love.

Why you ask, surely you must be joking. Religion is without any doubt whatsoever the most destructive influence on humanity that ever existed. I could write books on the destruction caused by religion, and why people are religious, but here are a few snippets to consider, then you may understand why intelligent people can’t stand religion.

Religion is really just evil in disguise. Religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began. There is considerable evidence to classify religion as evil, and talk of religion (Gods etc) should be banned. Because the records prove over and over again throughout humanity that religion is clearly responsible for crimes against humanity, taking part in any religious activity should also be outlawed and made a criminal offence.

The world would be a much happier and peaceful place if religion ceased to exist. Although there are some decent religious believers and preachers, they are unwittingly spreading evil around our world, and that they should simply keep their beliefs and thoughts to themselves in the best interests of humanity, or suffer the consequences for their actions.

People should consider that the world would be like Heaven if religion ceased to exist, but all the believers and preachers have turned the planet into Hell.

The Bible is trash. The Bible is the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man, and I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity, but still today, some people sadly believe the Bible to be true. That’s very sad indeed. Very sad.

When people quote various passages from the Bible, for example ...

Mathew 5:29-30 God encouraged self-mutilation.
Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and little children slaughtered.
Genesis 6:11-17 and 7:11-24 God is the greatest mass murder in history.

What happens? Religious people pop up from under every stone with the same old garbage. “That was the old Bible, or we’ve changed the meaning, or we’ve changed the context, or the quotes are out of context or or or, excuse after excuse.”

The fact is, they are Bible quotes, and the Bible is full of evil atrocities which religious people continually cover up, yet seem happy to drum into the minds of gullible little children. This is such a shameful disgrace in a civilised world.

If religious people are unable to apply commonsense and logic to develop a simple moral code to live by, then perhaps they could strip out of the Bible the evil, murders, rapes, abuse, and all traumatic references. Granted there will not be a lot left to read, but at least religious people may end up with a decent moral code to follow based on good, and not scare the living daylights out of innocent little children.

Religion is a serious mental illness. It’s the inability to face the reality of life and the finality of death. It affects 85% of the USA and 75% of US victims are Christians. The more pathetic and desperate a persons life, the more likely they are to believe in a god. People with otherwise empty lives, are the strongest believers. It gives them false hope that there’s a higher meaning to their sad and pathetic lives.

Religious people are dangerous. They cannot think for themselves, but instead cling to every word the bible says. Religious fanatics can somehow throw out all scientific evidence and replace it with the word of one book that has no credibility.

Most of the religious believers and followers become very aggressive towards non-believers of their religion and/or Atheists who are really just trying to help others understand the severely negative and damaging influence religion has on humanity.

Most religious posters seem unable to debate logically, lack intellectual reasoning, tend to be repetitive cut/paste artists due to their lack of skills, and are typically venomous towards fair-minded balanced Atheists just trying to guide people away from religion so they can have a happier peaceful life.

There’s plenty more information readily available regarding the horrors inflicted on humanity (mentally and physically) by religion and religious fanatics, so perhaps some of the above will answer your question why.

I agree with you. I think it's totally okay for people to have different beliefs. It's what makes us all unique and similar at the same time. I don't understand why people get so worked up about it, and judge others. People have certain beliefs to help them through life. If people want to believe something, let them believe! When people start getting crazy and try to force their beliefs on other people, and think their belief is the only belief, and start criticizing others, then I think it's considered fanatic. Let people think the way they want to think. Who knows if there are any rights or wrongs anyway?

Some people with faith fail to realize that others don't feel the same. I am some what religious.. but sometimes you cant even talk to someone that's religious without them bringing religion into it. That can be annoying. Those are the people I call fanatical. Otherwise, I don't judge if people are religious or not. That's their decision

There is hate because there is frustration. Believers are intellectually irresponsible. They don't recognize that what they have done is create a thought system which allows them to sublimate emotions and repress others, thereby improving their overall happiness. Unfortunately this system also has strict laws which are not always kind to others who don't subscribe to their system. What we non-believers want is tolerance for all mankind, and a Christian/Muslim/Jew can never believe, thanks to their own systems, that a homosexual or an atheist is his equal.

It is also very impeding to technological progress when you have people protesting stem cell research, cloning, and taking measures against global warming on the basis of "morality" which is a system that is unique to each individual. Not to mention all the people who refuse to believe that the earth is older than 6,000 years old, or people who deny the existence of dinosaurs, or people who refuse to even consider the possibility that evolution may be onto something as a general theory. We have physical evidence of all these things! We do not have physical evidence of your God!

If all your prayers and supplications to your God had worked, humanity wouldn't have these problems! We wouldn't have to be advancing as fast as possible just to stay alive!

We need to work together or we're all going to fall apart! Do you really want your children to live in a hellhole because of a Christian-Muslim nuclear "holy war", or a repeat of the medieval ages because of the Oil crisis?

There's a huge difference between having faith and being a fanatic.

Having faith means that you pray to your God, do whatever rituals you can to please your God, and live according to your religion's principles. Being a fanatic means that you are willing to hurt others who do not believe what you do, whether by killing them or not allowing them to practice what they believe. In general, very few religious people are actually fanatics.

By the way, I don't hate fanatics. I just want them to realize that it's okay for people to be different and to have different beliefs.

A very simple answer: people are sick and tired of having the evangelicals and others trying to cram their religion and religious beliefs down their throats. If you don't go to church (really just the Sunday morning fashion show), you're going to go to hell. Then when you get there its all about money, money and more money.....after which the preacher drives off in his new Lexus to his million-dollar-home.

It would be much better if the religious fanatics kept their traps shut and led by example.

I've noticed the same thing. Mostly what I see is hate for those who share different beliefs, as you can imagine. I don't think people with faith are fanatics. Fanatics are those that cannot speak of anything else, will not tolerate those whose opinion on the matter differs from theirs, fire and brimstone... that is what a fanatic is to me.

I don't know. So many of the people here seem bitter, yet they are the ones accusing us of being intolerant. They never stop insulting us, but they get ultra-offended when someone asks about salvation. I've felt sick many times after visiting this site, but I keep coming back because I know that there are good people here, some of whom want to spread their wisdom, others who simply want to ask a good, honest, sincere question. I just want all of the people who are here to pick a fight or insult people to know that arrogant, intolerant people like them are the ones that wars exist in this world.

I believe you have some of your facts wrong. Sorry. True children of God wont put others down for their beliefs and wont build resentments. Paul did not deny the teachings of Jesus after he was shown the Truth. Paul became a radical and changed his whole life so that he can learn to Love unconditionally. Jesus already knew He would use Saul's story to change the hearts of many, forever, that is why He chose him. Saul was a very dedicated soldier for his king and he killed many believers of Jesus. So God brought him to his knees to set HIS plan in motion. It worked, Saul/ Paul began to help Jesus' followers. Paul was a very spiritual person after his conversion and he was a Jew. Acts 22:1-21

not everyone who believes in God is a fanatic. only the psychos that are willing to kill other people "in the name of God" those people are the fanatics. if you find yourself drinking poison kool-aid or strapping dynamite to yourself and running into a Starbucks, then you're a fanatic. if you go to church every Sunday or to the mosque or to the synagogue then you're okay, don't worry.

They aren't. Only the fanatics are. At least by normal, accepting people. Maybe militant atheists might see it that way, but they are fanatics in their own way.
