Anyone on Xanax or Ativan? or any anti-depressant
If you have been on any of these medications - Which did you like better(feel better) for your depression/anxiety?
Did you feel better off the benzodiazepines(ativan, xanax, diazepam) or..Did you feel better off the anti-depressants(effexor,zoloft,lexapro)..Or did you feel better off a combination of both?

Xanax is an anti-anxiety med.
Zoloft is an anti-depressant.
Ativan is a tranquilizer.
They are for different problems.
Zoloft works for me. In the beginning I took Ativan with Zoloft to help me sleep. Ativan can be addictive, so the doctor stopped it after a week.

I've taken Xanax for years for anxiety. The problem with anxiety is that some doctors don't ask the right questions and will diagnose someone as depressed, hence the double scripts. They are two very different disorders. Xanax works very well for me. Ativan didn't do anything. I've also taken Klonopin which just made me want to sleep.

Effexor was good after it was at 300mg but the weight gain was horrible. Xanax and ativan work pretty much the same. Combo is the better way to go.

I took Zoloft for a year and the only problem I had with it was a mild case of dry mouth for the first week or two. It really helped me quite a bit.

Benzos will chill you out, helping with the anxiety but only use short term as they are addictive!! Most antidepressant's will take up to 4-6 weeks to have full effect give it a few weeks if you feel no better get them changed!! mixing both to start with may really help you!! michelle XXX (RMN)
