i stored my caravan at his farm and i went to use it and he had sold it as he states i owed him money. i had not been up to the caravan for 12 months and had given him a cheque for the 12 months which he ripped up. he states he is going to take me to county court for the remainder of the money. i paid him another cheque for 100 pounds which he has cashed. i now have my caravan back

If he wants to take you to court then he will have to shoe evidence to the court that
a) You both signed a contract or agreement.
b) You broke that agreement and didn't pay

He presumably can't do this, especially if you originally had a verbal agreement. Plus he accepted your check. He has no case.
If he is serious about taking you to court then he has to get his solicitor to write to your first, stating how much you owe, for when, and gicing you a deadline to pay.
If he phones you about this threatening you then its harrasment.
Write doen everything that happened, including dates and from now on keep a diary. Record any phone conversations if you can, keep this in a safe place.

It sounds like he is stressed and taking it out on you. He's got his £100, you've removed the caravan. I'd ignore it and let it blow over.

Let him take you to court, but make sure you turn up and have any evidence with you, also tell him that he can take you to court and that you will turn up and that you will put in a request for a lost day of work and time needed to gather information and other costs at £400.
That way if he loses he pays your costs.

the farmer sounds a bit of a freak. i suggest paying him £10,000 (just to be on the safe side) otherwise he might want to shoot you. remember, life is important.
