I was in love with my cousin when I was a teenager. Many cousins have married throughout the ages and only in the last few generations has it become less acceptable. It's actually legal in quite a few states and the wive's tale that you will have genetically messed up children is completely incorrect. The only thing that can go wrong is if your family line has a genetic predisposition for something and then with you two being part of the same blood line, increasing your child's risk of developing it.
It's probably easier socially if you don't have a romantic relationship with your cousin though. I still adore my cousin now that I'm 37, but we never acted on our "mutual admiration".

Hi Cherry Vegas,
and what's wrong with being in love with your cousin?
I don't know about the country where you live but here, in England, it's quite legal for cousins to marry.
Unfortunately the kids are sometimes a little weird - but hey - aren't all kids?
Of course, there is one other thing - maybe your cousin is the same sex as you, in which case you don't have to worry about kids!
If you need a good opening line you could try, "We have so much in common, why don't we spend a little more time together?"
Good luck
PS: just one more thing. If your cousin is already married - forget it

Especially if your blood related... realize this is inappropriate (inbreeding). Yes, parts of the world still observe this and even the US did it, but we have progressed since then. It's okay to love your cousin, but not "LOVE" your cousin!
*It has been scientifically proven that inbreeding causes a much higher chance of mental and/or physical impairment. Which means it's not a guarantee your children will have problems, but will be at greater risk than children born from un-related gene pools.

isn't it illegal to marry ur cousin? even if it wasn't, that's just too gross for me. i say look for someone not blood-related unless u want to have physically and intellectually challenged babies.
