I'm a wedding planner myself and I know the area where you live but I'm in Canada so my suggestion to you is go to The Knot's website and look under local vendors. I can't give you specific recommendations since the only wedding planners I know in New Jersey live in the north end of the state but the people who advertise on The Knot are generally good. They've invested the money and time to advertise there and if they don't follow a certain code of conduct, there ad can be pulled. The website is:

Get a wedding DAY planner. She'll make your life easier and won't cost more than $50/hour.

You can do the vendors and location without a problem. Just the day-of can be very hectic.

Doing it yourself will be cheaper and if you're trying to avoid fuss, you'll probably get just as much fuss if anyone involved is very pushy, especially if the wedding planner is pushy.

A wedding planning tool that is great is www.theknot.com it's helped me so much in planning my wedding.

Check it out regardless of what you do.

Contact the Association of Bridal Consultants -- there's a form on their web site to get referrals to local planners:

And while you're in the pre-planning phase, start thinking about whether you want to do some sort of photo montage video to show at the reception:
