I have just recently discovered polyamory and I am dating a guy who already has a girlfriend, but he has introduced me to his friends, his mother and his work colleagues and called me his girlfriend as well. I am yet to meet his other girlfriend but he says he hopes we can be friends, this so doesnt bother me but it bothers my mum she says its not normal. I know it might not be the social norm but the last 2 boyfriends I've had cheated on me and I feel safe with this guy knowing that if he is sleeping with someone else at least he has the decency to be 100% honest and keep me informed, he also asked me to show him the same courtesy so whats the big deal? It worked for Beauvoir and Sartre!

I'm with you honey, I think monogamy for the most part is an (for want of a better word!) "unreliable" way to live with a partner.

Its clear men are incapable of staying with one person for their entire lives, whereas women possess this trait. I believe it comes from men being the 'spreader of seeds' and women being the 'bearer of children'.
Monogamy is a natural form for us whereas it isnt for them and this may be a reason why men cheat, if you have found a solution that avoids your boyfriend cheating then go with it.
But don't underlook that little word called Jealousy. Its a bigger emotion that you think and when it rears its ugly head it'll bite you on the butt ...hard, now this guy has told you from day one he isnt monogamous so he wont choose you over his lifestyle, ever. I hope you're ready for that.

Its not easy to say goodbye once you've fallen in love with a person

Monogamy isn't lifeless and marriage and/or relationships at the prompt are not about sex. not all youngsters are doing as you're suggesting above and open marriages at the prompt are not that worry-loose. television isn't genuine and does not supply the authentic tale - only the single it truly is more beneficial dramatic. Been married 22 years, both instruments of people married for 40 six years, my sisters were married for 20 and 22 years, my husband's siblings were married for 22, 21, 20, 10, and seven years. There aren't any divorces and many babies (2 - 5 babies in protecting with relations).

I don't think its a normal relationship, for a start if it goes anywhere its illegal to be married to more than 1 person, and who would he choose to marry, you or the other one? In some way one of you will get treated better than the other and i feel that in a relationship you should be the sole interest on his mind.

Whatever works for you. Monogamy is the ideal, but if both partners are in tune with branching out, then there's nothing wrong with it, and in fact, it could enhance the relationship.
