The majority of the Draults that I found in Ancestry.com's databases are from Quebec. This would point towards a French origin.

Of the family trees I found the only 2 which showed a birthplace had France, the earliest from 1718. (DRAULT, Jeanne 1718 Pleumartin,86450,Vienne,Poitou-Charentes,France, )

There is also a marriage in Louisiana:

Mary Drault Joseph Jacob 26 Mar 1891 St. Landry

Therefore my guess is that it is originally French.

The Drault family I have seen on the internet were from England & Germany.
