because it gives the suggestion of looking lower, and brings up sexual suggestion.
But if your a fatty it's definately gross and a no no!

I agree with you there are just some people out there that need to stay covered up, I mean its great that they have good self asteem
but some where deep down inside they have to know that they dont look good in some of the things that they wear, while we are expected to just sit there and be polite about it. Blah gross. i know that I dont have the body for alot of the short skirts and belly sshirts butI am not about to wear one just to prove that i look great in anything, I will be the first to admit that I dont look good in a lot of things. But anyway I agree with you.

Well if we have a good looking and in shape belly then we like to show just our belly in general. It may not just be about showing our belly buttons.

Maybe they think they have a better belly than they do.
Hey - if I had a nice tight stomach, I'd consider showing it off too. ;)
But seriously- I think that a LOT of females have self esteem issues, generally resulting from the way their fathers treated (or just outright neglected) them, and they overcompensate by showing off as much flesh as they can in order to feel sexy and get looks - which makes them feel loved, which makes them feel good about themselves.
Silly, huh?

If you have a flat stomach, some men find it sexy and it makes some women feel sexy or a woman may want to show off her navel jewelry, if her belly button is pierced.

Madison Avenue advertisers have lowered pants tops and shortened blouse bottoms and the bellybutton is the result of the fashion slavery that exists. Next year it is going to be clothes on one side of the body only and spray paint on the other side. There goes the ozone layer.

It's only gross when they are fat and don't need to be showing it. Know if you're sexy (like me) and have a flat stomach then show it off girls show it off

Sometimes they want to show off....they want to tell everyone else who's fatter or heavier that they're better and they know it...some timeds they think its sexy and most of the time its not its pretty gross and slutty.....

Girls have been doing that since before the 70's.
