A lot of people lose their ability to digest milk when they reach adulthood. The test to see if milk is the part of your diet that is causing problems is to stop drinking milk for a week and then add it back. You performed the test without knowing whether you would have been having problems.
Some physicians say that milk intolerant people can consume small amounts of milk throughout the day and that will increase their tolerance of occasional regular portions. If you want to add milk back to your diet, try small amounts to start.

y'know, it's crazy that you asked that. I've been an avid soymilk drinker for about 3 years now, I only drink the plain silk soymilk. But my friends and family always ONLY has 2% milk, and every time I drink it I get a stomach ache, I get the chilly sweats, and the runs (yeah it's gross, but honest)! Now, I don't think it has anything to do with lactose because yogurts and cheese are fine, it's just the milk that's getting to me. If I drink skimmilk I'm okay, but I hate the taste. So here's my theory: I do not eat fried food, fast food, or candy, and my meals mostly consist of salads and liquids. I believe that my stomach has built up a resistance to fatty foods, which milk is very fatty depending on percentage. My digestive system goes into overdrive whenever I consume fatty foods. This is just my theory, but hey, I love soymilk so I'm okay with not drinking milk! Hope this helps!

Cow milk is harder to digest than soy milk. It's possible that this is a normal reaction and has nothing to do with lactose intolerance. The symptoms of lactose intolerance are "excess gas production and often diarrhea". If you don't have those, it's probably not L.I. Start with something else, like cheese (which generally contains less lactose than milk), and ease to cow's milk gradually. You can also try goat's milk - it's much easier to digest.

Lactose intollerance comes from the body's inablity to produce the proper enzyme to digest lactose. So unless you underwent a recent genetic mutation, I would go with no.

It's always possible. Food allergies can develop out of the blue.
