No, but the Bible uses the literary metaphorical device of six days to organize the events of the Creation into a comprehensible tale.

Pretty much. According to Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-4...
Day 1 = Heavens, Earth, Light, Dark
Day 2 = Sky, Ocean
Day 3 = Dry Land, Grass, Trees, Plants
Day 4 = Sun, Moon, Stars
Day 5 = Fish, Birds, Other Creatures
Day 6 = Humans
Day 7 = Rest

Yes, he made it in six days but what is a day? He made the stars and the sun and the moon on the fourth day so how can the writer of Genesis say "day" when the means to count "day"-one full earth rotation relative to the sun- wasn't there already?
The obvious answer is that "day" means "period" to point out that God made the world not in one instant but in periodic steps. That is, there were those made first, second, and so on. How long that period is, is not possible to know. God was talking to an ancient man with nomadic brain to reveal to him spiritual truths not scientific truths. And these man, in turn wrote Genesis to share it to other men of same simple minds not that guy reading Einstein.
For those who espouse the idea that 1 day to God=1000 days to MAN, you have to re-read that passage in the Bible because it doesn't really say that. It only says "AS" or "LIKE" which obviously a comparison to mean that God has no time. For how can God have time when God is outside time? Time is a property of the universe when it began. God is not subject to His own creation. God is not bounded by the universe and therefore, not bounded by time.

No it does not.
You need to understand when it says that 1 day to the Lord is as a 1000 years is to us and a 1000 years to us is as 1 day to the lord.
Now understand as well this is just a way that we can understand it sorta get our mind around.
So when we read in Gen that it was 6 days it was 6 days to the lord so at least 6000 years to us MIN.
or try to understand this To God what is 100 Trillion eons (an eon is 1 billion years) just a hour!

Yes, in 6 days, the earth and all things on it were created, and on the 7th day, God rested.
Day 1: Creation of Heavens, creation of earth, creation of water, creation of light, seperation of light from darkness, Day/Night (and their respective cycle)
Day 2 : Division between the water from the sky
Day 3 : Division between the waters, emergence of land, creation of plants
Day 4 : Creation of the stars (and other celestial bodies), sun, and moon
Day 5 : Creation of airborne and seaborne creatures.
Day 6 : Creation of landborne creatures, domestic animals, creepy-crawlies (bugs and similiar icky things), and mankind.
Day 7 : God saw that everything was very good, and rested.
Genesis chapter 1.

It also says you can turn sticks into snakes and make your own zombies. It would be funny if it didn't cause so much strife.
The formation of the world is clearly defined by modern science. If you wish to believe middle eastern goat hearders, I guess that is your right.

I suppose so. I always found it odd though, why would an all powerful god need to rest on the 7th day? surely he doesnt get tired.
