Corn is best eaten as soon as possible after picking as the sugar starts to turn into starch very rapidly immediately after picking so get the freshest fresh picked corn as you can preferably from a roadside farm stand near the edge of the corn fields.

You can cook them a bunch of ways;

Husk the ears and boil in lightly salted water until tender

Leave them in the husk but soak in water for about a half hour and toss on the BBQ - Turn them often until done - don't overcook

Husk them and put on the BBQ - watch out they may burn and char a bit - will still be good though Baste with butter and some seasoning too if you wish

Husk them and wrap in foil with salt, pepper, & butter and toss on the BBQ

Husk the ears and place on a cookie or baking tray and cook/roast in the overn - don't overcook

I am a Pampered Chef consultant, and I found for you a recipe on our main website that you can use to make your corn. I've included it for you below.

We also have some great gadgets too that you can use that make serving corn-on-the-cob much easier. The Corn Butterer allows you to apply butter to the cob without making a big mess. The Corn Cob Nobs are great because you insert them before you boil or microwave your cobs so you don't have to struggle with inserting them into a hot ear of corn. The Cob Nobs cool instantly. Hope this helps!

most people only cook them 5 to 8 minutes in boiling water. However, I like mine cooked about 15 to 20 minutes when the corn is fresh.
Drain the water off the corn and put butter in the hot pan with the cobs and it will melt and you can turn the cobs around in it. Salt to your taste.

Well this is the way my mom does them--and it's most likely how i'll do it when i'm older--- peel all the cobs til they're naked
then fill your pot a about 1/4 full with water
stick the cobs in there standing
last- stuff the empty spaces between cobs with leftover leaves that were closest to the corn. and close the lid shut til it smells like corn.
this whole leaf thing is key to sweetness!

Shuck them (peel them) and wash off the corn. Boil a large spaghetti sized pt of water and, once it is boiling, add a teaspoon of salt and the corn. After this reaches a boil again, simmer on high (not boiling but there should be bubbles) for 5 to 8 minutes.

Then, pull out of the pot using tongs, butter and enjoy!

Soak the corn in water, clean off the silks being careful to leave the husk.

Close the husk back, wrap the corn in aluminum foil and grill for 20 minutes.

Or clean the and boil them for 20 minutes.

FRESH CORN ON THE COB (MICROWAVE)
Taste great, & less mess.

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks & silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

With a sharp knife trim tassels from end of each cob (this is very important to the taste). Place husk covered ears on paper towel. Halfway through cooking time turn ears over & rearrange. When figuring how much time to cook the corn remember the following: the cooking timetable below is for room temperature ears, & also keep in mind that ear size has to be taken into consideration, as well as the wattage of your microwave. You will probably want to adjust cooking time to suit your taste & your microwave.

Cooking Timetable For Room Temperature Corn-On-Cob:
1 ear – 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes

When ears are hot to the touch, remove & wrap in kitchen towel or foil. Let stand at least 5 minutes. Using a towel to protect your hands, hold corn & peel back the husks, the silks will be easy to remove. Do NOT remove the husks. Salt & butter the ears at this time, the husks may be pulled back up over the ears to keep warm. Or completely remove husks & serve corn immediately. Delicious!

NOTE: Corn can be frozen, minus end-tassels, in the shucks & silks then, when needed, microwave as above. Remember that frozen corn takes longer to cook, of course. Do NOT thaw corn before placing in microwave. When thoroughly hot prepare as above.
