This is included into Microsoft XP Service pack 2 and Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 1. Based on how it behaves, I'd stay away from this firewall because though it blocks most things, it doesn't prompt the user as much as other firewalls may do. Depending on how you setup your computer, the higher the security level, the more the firewall will prompt you as it finds more potential threats. If you don't like prompts, stick with windows firewall or set a third party firewall at its most laid back setting.
But keep in mind, your firewall is only as effective as its ability to monitor trusted applications it lets through. Suspicious programs are becoming more complex and hook onto trusted programs. This is why even if you don't like prompts or understand them, they may serve as a warning. I personally don't understand everything mine says, but that's technology.

nicely i do no longer think of that abode windows firewall want replace.... nevertheless you could activate abode windows firewall utilising administration panel... click on administration panel.. Then click on secure practices middle.. After that click on abode windows firewall.. finally click it on...

its included with windows xp and enabled by default in service pack 2
go to the control panel, then security center and enable it there
or if you dont have XP SP2, then get free ZoneAlarm from zonelabs.com
