They are like people, there are good ones and there are bad ones. The bad one are usually that way because of people being mean to them and not taking care of them. The good ones are that way because of people taking excellent care of them, training them and loving them.

MISUNDERSTOOD!
I own a Pit and he is the best dog I have EVER had. He is my baby and I cannot wait to get another one.

The media has a lot to do with the rumors and wild myths that so many people believe.

Hey AtiaoftheJulii,
Just a little FYI for you. According to the American Temperament Society Border Collies have a lower passing rate than the Pit Bull does. Border Collie 79.7% passed while 83.5% of Pits passed... Why do you think that is? Also you ask how often you hear about a border collie attacking someone.... well dear the media doesn't report all dog attacks... just the juicest ones. Also the media are not dog experts... and sometimes even for experts it can be hard to tell the difference between a real Pit Bull and the many other look-a-like breeds. Also Pit Bulls are one of the popular dogs (most owned) dogs in this country. They are also the most abused.

I really just wish people would do some research and LEARN something about these dogs. They are a marvelous breed, who is sadly misunderstood.
Remember for every Pit that bites someone there are tens of thousands that do not.

I love pit bulls. I own one and he is my service dog. Dose great with people and loves to love kids. If you are thinking about buying one here are some guide lines. Read up on them they are a very strong dog and needs to have a firm hand in training. Never get a puppy from a backyard breeder, know your puppies blood line. Good breeders never breed dogs that show aggression. If you have small kids do not leave them alone with any large dog. Dogs play rough and can hurt a small child without meaning to. Pit bulls are very smart< I think they are one of the smartest breeds you have to make sure they know you are their pack leader. Make sure your pit can not run loose. If someone gets bite they will try to blame the pit no matter if it was another dog, so protect yourself from that.

I think (know from experience) that they are wonderful dogs. They are kind, loyal, playful, and friendly toward everyone. The problem is some of the PEOPLE who own them. There are good and bad dogs of every breed out there, but 99%of the time it is the owners that made them that way. Not to long ago everyone was after Rotts, Dobies, Chows, German Sheperds etc. They are all loyal and powerful dogs who (as most dogs) trust their master and some people abuse that badly. So I know Pits (as can any dog) be wonderful compainions and great with kids(mine is). It is so aggervating when people draw uneducated opioions about anything (especially pits or other dog breeds) without the experience to back that up.

I have a pit, and boxers as well, and I can not tell the pit from the boxers by the attitude. She is a very sweet loving dog that gets on great with all of my dogs, and the kids. It is not the dogs that are bad, it is the people that have them. That would be like saying that guns are bad, it is not the gun its self, but the person that owns it.

My sister has a pit bull and he is a doll. However, I have two border collies and I refuse to allow my dogs to play with her dog.

The Pit is unpredictable and I personally do not trust them. Also, if you are a homeowner, prepare yourself for a large additional fee for owning the pet.

I'm sure some people will disagree with me, and say it depends on how they are raised, etc..etc.. However, how many times have you read about a border collie ripping someone apart?

Case close...

Well, you're really a cute girl- so I love them! : )

Honestly, I do think that I have a prejudice against Pit Bulls, but I do realize that the truth is that most of them are nice and friendly animals- only a few of them are vicious, from having cruel owners, or being trained to fight.

All dogs can and will bite. All that matters is how they are raised. I actually know a couple of pit bulls and they are very sweet.

SAVE THE PITTS, BLAME THE OWNERS, SCREW THE MEDIA
