Most of the people who don't want gay marriage to become legal are Christians who believe that homosexuality is a sin. But didn't God give us the free will to sin if we wanted to? Isnt the whole point that you're supposed to choose not to sin, and not be forced into it? In that case, why do Christians not want gay people to have rights? God gave them free will, and they "chose" to be gay, so shouldn't you let them?

Please note that I am not suggesting that all chruches begin preforming weddings for gay people. I am only concerned about gay marriage in the legal sense.

Also, I don't really think being gay is a choice, I just said so for the sake of arguement.

Yeah, ok, I know I overlooked the whole murder thing. I still think it's wrong for Christians to try and punish people for being gay, expecially if they believe that gay people are going to be punished in hell anyway. What's the point? Gay people (unlike murderers) don't hurt anyone.

I always thought the same thing about the anti-abortion movement.

This Jesus of the bible NEVER called on his followers to FORCE people to live by certain rules, but to try to convince them and let them make their own CHOICES.

I firmly believe that the Jesus of the bible was therefore both Pro-Choice and Anti-Abortion. Unfortunately, it's too complicated a concept for most right-wingers to grasp.

It's not just Christianity that has a problem with 3rd sex marriage. Almost all religions have reservations with this. But you have a strong point with the 'free will' thing. Yes, people can choose to be gay (but you're right when saying it isn't really a choice coz they're born being gay). People can choose to hurt other people. People can choose not to help people in need. I guess my point is, we do have free will, but we have to use it in the right sense. Meaning, it has to fit in the society we are living in. I myself live in a society that is very conservative, so 3rd sex marriage is totally out of the question.

The time will probably come when 3rd sex marriage won't be illegal anymore, but that time isn't now. Since it's a legal thing, we should abide to it.

OH YEAH!! part of the hypocritcal group we call the moral majority. For some reason, many christians have raised homosexuality above other sins, making out to be a sin worse than others. Whihs is funny because accorfing to them, all sins are equal. As for gay marriage on a legal sense... its rediculous to outlaw it.. its being outlawed because of a moral opinion, which not all americans share. such non-sence

Sorry, I'm not a Christian, but I have to debate your point. Murder is illegal, despite it being a part of free will. I don't think anyone would argue that we should legalize murder to allow for free-will.

The problem with making gay marriage illegal arises from the reasoning behind it. No government action should be based on religion, intolerance, or "I don't like it". Those are the only arguments against gay marriage I have heard.

It's also a sin to murder, but the government kind of removes the "free choice" aspect from that, too.

Granted, there's a very large difference between murder and gay marriage, but, if one were to use the "free choice" argument, one must also extend it to all applications.

All laws and rules interfere with free will, silly.

For a person to be interested in protecting the sanctity of the sacrament that Jesus Christ created in marriage, does not make them anti-gay, either.

Marriage is an issue of contract law, not religeon.

If it isn't why can't your church grant a divorce that is legally binding and divides assets?

Churches should stick to fleecing sheep for tax free money and leave contract law to the state.

The Chirstian Church needs to get their nose out of politics. What right do they have to impose their beliefs on non-believers? I am not a Catholic, so why should I have to follow laws that I am opposed to just because it makes the Church happy?

Yes God gives you the choice to live for him or to live for your pleasure. Just because he gives you the choice for you to chose. That doesnt make him agree with what you chose. He hates sin. He loves gay people, but he doesnt agree with their lifestyle. God created a male and a female and thats the way He sees it.Know a day we called bad things good and good things bad.
