When you die what do YOU believe to happen next

I am curious to see what people believe in and why they believe it.

I believe my body will begin to decay and turn back into dirt. As for my soul, I believe it will rejoin the energy of the Earth and I'll eventually be re-born into another physical body (to start the cycle all over again).

The book is finished, and your life energy becomes a part of the pool of life energy that all living things possess to some degree and that cycles through them - it may retain an element of cohesiveness eg allowing for Ghosts and other weird things etc, or it might just be like water returning to a lake - basically, the lights go out when you die.

There certainly isn't some individually defined God who has any interest in judging whether you did good things or not, keeping score and the like - but there is life energy - what the tantrics call Kundalini, that kind of thing. Oh, and everyone else who didn't believe the same stories you did weren't wrong, like so many monotheists would insist.

My own theory is when we die, our "spirit" or "soul", I don't know a better term so I'll go with that, begins anew as a new living thing, reincarnation I suppose. And then when that creature dies the cycle repeats, over and over again. And then, the Big Bang, that we are currently still in, ends, and begins again.....and we start all over again from year 1, year 0 whatever....and we are the same people again, the giant cycle, like a revolving wheel on a bicycle...so this effect causes us to repeat our own lifes, and everyones around us. Your mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, friend, dog, bully, serial killer...eveyone...ever get that feeling of Deja Vu? That's what I think may be happening, an incling of this exact same life that has happened before, and is doing it again, and the extroadinary powers of your mind, judging and remembering that this indeed happened before...that's my theory anyway....

(I would explain more of my theory but its to long and I'm not bothered lol)

Of course, we won't or never know until our time is up and it's Game Over.......

Nobody knows for sure if we have a soul or if its all just Chemistry/Biochemistry. If its just Science then we will become fertilizer and food for the rest of Life on Earth. Energy can not be created nor Destroyed and therfore our Energy will become another form of Energy. If we have a soul then nobody can know for sure what happens to a soul as we don't seem to have a communication with our soul that we are conscious of. There are so many theories of what will happen to our Soul if we have a Soul - one would have to describe and interprete all religious writings to get a feeling for what many old religious writers thought would happen - too many to describe here. The concept of heaven and hell in its many imagined forms is a theory that seems to class us as either good or bad - but we really are only animals and we are what we are. One day we will be downloaded onto computers and we will live in a virtual World as the Fiction writers have thought about and like they say maybe we already are our exitance might be virtual and we may be just a collection of electrons on a microchip and programmed to believe what we do.

The Bible doesn't answer all our questions about life after death—but it does tell us very clearly that that when we die we go immediately into the presence of the Lord if we know Christ. Paul's great hope was "to be away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).

How is this possible? It's possible for one reason: Jesus Christ paid the full penalty for our sins. You see, when He died on the cross, all of our sins—not some of them, but all of them—were transferred to Him. He was sinless, but He willingly took the punishment you and I deserve. The Bible puts it this way: "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Let me illustrate it this way. Suppose you went to the bank and borrowed a large sum of money to buy a house. As long as you owed that debt, the house wouldn't really be yours, and you'd have to keep on paying. But then suppose someone came along and paid off your debt. Would you keep on making payments to the bank? No, of course not—because the debt had already been cancelled.

In a far greater way, we are all guilty before God, and our sins have created a debt to Him we can never repay—never. But listen: Jesus Christ has already paid it—completely and fully! The debt has been cancelled! Why fear death any longer? Instead, put your faith and trust in Christ today.

I am lucky enough to be able to answer this as I died in a bike accident when I was 22.
Luckily a nice man walking by knew how to restart me and so here I am.

Apparantly I was dead for about 2/3 minutes. In a medical sense that isnt enough time for the brain to die, but all I can tell you is that I was aware and I was moving.
There wasnt anything to see, there wasn't any feeling of wind, it was like I had my eyes open, but in darkness and there was a sense of moving forward at fantastic speeds beyond Sci Fi type speeds.
I dont speculate on where I was going or even if there was a destination, but for those of you who fear nothing, I can assure you I was aware, I was me, I knew who I was, and I was moving.

Oh in caseanyone wonders, I dont believe in any Gods or any 'final destination'

Einstein had a theory that energy doesn't just stop it must go somewhere he had a mathematical calculation to this effect weather he just made this up to keep religious fanatics appeased so he could continue his research unmolested knowing how many times religion has thwarted scientific progress in history and by the way here we are again with stem cell research but that's starting to veer from the question.or weather Einstein also wrestle with his own mortality being very intelligent he was still a human being.as for myself keeping an open mind as to the wonders of the world and the universe that we continue to discover and probably will til the end of the human race keeping an open mind how could you discount the fact that there could be some form life after death weather that's heaven or hell or something Else and if that's just a way to communicate this to our primitive brains the concept of life after death or is it that we love life so much that the thought of losing it is unbearable so we manufacture a method of accepting death.this answer Einstein now has,and someday we will to.i believe there has to be more,or perhaps this is my way of accepting mortality i believe its the former

Break out the cake.... it's party time..... you finally make it to your destiny. If your lucky enough to go right away. some souls stick around here searching for their way out, not sure what the real reason is, either they are seeking answer or just stuck here, although they do learn as time goes on, and they can better themselves, if you were a evil person before you died, you are now an evil spirit, if you were a good person, like wise.... some poor souls go to hell, if they were that bad. but most do go straight to Heaven, some come back to visit, and some seek communication, some may come back as a guardian angel type spirit to protect or guide you, I seen a few in my days, and one communicated with me foe seven months, she had a beautiful voice. I've seen spirit since I was four. I even felt God presence, and what He said to me, that He was happy with me.

you simply die. This should be the view from Christians and Atheists alike. The belief that you go to either Heaven or Hell upon death is non biblical and simply believed by very misinformed people. The bible says you may be resurrected at a later time on Earth or remain in the grave.

You cannot just come in to this life to live & die, I really believe that you come back, as a spirit, or something else and that you can communicate with the living. I have often felt that there is some one else in my house, my angels that are looking after me. And no I am not religous.

I would like to think that my soul exists outside this world somewhere else in the universe - which after all is unknown & beyond scientific comprehention, just like the workings of the brain & the act of sleeping.
When my body dies, my soul (but not my memories) will reincarnate (link) to a new foetus. Maybe the link is through a form of energy which science hasn't yet discovered.
I didn't used to want to think this, but as I get older (just turned 30) I increasingly need to, because it is impossible & scary to imagine not existing: not sensing anything, not experiancing anything, not dreaming anything & not having any memories.
(not that I think about it very often ... yet)
