I feel it is rude to ask someone re: a law suit..."hey did you get?

any money??( now it is none of their business to know whether you got some or none)...can you just white lie and say..."why would you ask?> or just say..NO and walk away??? (intrusive people)

I would just say, that is my personal business and I don't discuss money matters with others.

No, you are required, by law, to answer anyone who asks about your daily life.
