My cousin was just diagnosed with it. He's 6 years old. Is it one of those things that if you have it.. you automatically know you're going to die or does he even have a chance?

With the right therapie, he has a chance! And it is important to keep him happy - the mind also plays a big role in the healing process. Wish you all the best.

To the best of my recollection, childhood leukemia is something like 75% curable. It all depends on the kind of leukemia, and how advanced it is at diagnosis. However, the chemotherapy puts them at risk of other cancers later in life.

It is treatable..a long drawn out process, but they key thing is that he would need a bone marrow transplant.. your whole family needs to be tested for a donor match..which I am sure they will soon all be tested. go to St. Judes website, and there will be information for people in your situation. Good luck and blessing for the little guy.

I'm preety sure that with I think 2 years of treatment you are cured. I heard something about that. Tell your cousin's parents to look for different opinions.

Yes leukaemia is survivable, especially in the young, and it also depends on what kind. Please give him lots of TLC. I think you should sit down and discuss this with your family. I hope he will be alright. You must think positive.
