Surely they wouldn't be crying if they didn't have something to cry about in the first place?? It's almost as bad as the woman in McDonald's the other day who told her son to ''eat up that burger or you're not getting any chocolate cake for dessert!''

OMG, you have just given me such a flashback. That threat from my Mum used to send chills down my spine, you knew you were in trouble when she said that and a blub would always escape in fear.

It's a silly expression of anger, just to try and make the child believe they will get a spankin or if older a swat. I know that if they are already crying they obviously are crying about something, but then again there are kids that cry just because they are spoiled and want their own way.

Sometimes kids cry for the sake of it ... ask them and you will see that even they don't know why they are crying. It does wear you down and eventually after a day or so of it (and probably everyday too) yes their parent may well snap. It is the straw that breaks the camels back but its not the only thing that contributed to it!

My dad used to say that, I think it may stop kids from crying because of the unknown..hopfully people are more understanding now, I certainly am..I can't stand it when I hear someone say "if you don't stop I am going to kill you", don't say things like that..you know you're not really going to kill them, pretty soon they are not going to take you seriously, that's when the bad stuff starts to happen..

yu're not a parent are you... it's not hard to be angry with kids as when you are reaising them to certain standards and to follow certain rules/routines, you expect them to follow them after a period of time....

that and the fact that kids cry for no reason at all actually, they do.

We ahve three... babies are different, but sometimes kids need to be told when the limit for crying is and that crying to get sympathy is not always the best method of appealing to your parent's best interest.

Leave parents be... if there's a prob.. uit'll be dealt with.

If you have kids... you must be so feckin patient, but I doubt it.. or maybe you're just tired of hearing your folks give out

HA HA HA HA!!! When I was real little and my mom would say that to me, I ALWAYS thought she was saying, "I'll give you a raisin to cry about"...I ALWAYS did stop crying cause I was like, why would she give me a raisin to cry about? I was so confused I could do nothing but stop crying to try and figure it out, lol.

Because they are frustrated and they are simply echoing the crap their own parents spewed at them.
I have had parents threaten to leave their children in the store where I work if they are bad. Good Idea!! I say. Put them to work in the stock room.

I know it, when they were small thats what was offered to them as choice. thats why we have so many confused youngsters! And then there is the starving kids in china & India for them to consider that would confuse the best of them how when they consume thier veggies it will feed one of the little beggars.
