This is not a challenge to any religous people. This is just a solicitation for open-mind discussion.

God created Adam out of his own image, right ? So god has a reproductive organ on himself ? Why does he need one ? I thought there is only one god. There is no used for that.

God created Adam, then Eve. The reason God create Eve because Adam is lonely, right ?
So all Adam need is just a companion. Why did God make Eve with a reproductive organ that can mate with Adam ? Why create a sexual opportunity to begin with ? With knowledge of "Sex" differences, that is Sin.

So because God created Eve with the physical differences and compatibilty to Adam, he created the foundation of the possiblity of "Sin". Though at that time, God did not let Adam and Eve aware of such difference. Why would you set it up so that it can even has a remote chance of having Sin ?

Ok, so that's God's setup, then why did God create the forbidden fruit ?

Interesting, some answers suggested that Adam and eves are already having sex.

Did I get it right ?

dude, you can't apply logic to any of these stories. They're just stories.

If it's any comfort you're not the first one to ever be bothered by a story in the Bible, regardless of its facts. The best way to gain full understanding is to start out before your read the story and ask this question "God, as I read this story will you allow me to have understanding?" If you are not a saved soul - you're probably not going to understand no matter what - because the Bible is written in Spirit and Truth and we must have the Holy Spirit within us to understand Spirit and Truth matters. But to placate your curiosity at a very basic level - God created - means that he did not procreate - if you read the whole story you know that he made man from the dust of the ground- so God didn't have an appendage or need one. Adam had all the animals, but none were like him as genuine companion because God had only breathed God-life into Adam and not the animals - which is why God decided Adam needed a companion - and yes, if you live with the same mate long enough, you will find that ultimately love is about companionship and not sex. God, being a just God, gave a simple command - everything I have is yours and you will have all of this, but I do want you to know that the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is not something you desire if you are desiring me - that's my paraphrase and please take it as such - and it's no different today- if our soul is only desiring God and the fulfillment of having Christ Jesus, the world is so pale in comparison that we cannot even begin to desire it as we see it for the evil it is. So we weren't set up with a remote chance of sinning. We were set up and explicitly told how not too. But the earth had been given over to Satan - and he subdued the mind of Eve with his gentlemenly ways - which haven't changed much over the years if you really stop and listen to men and how they seduce - and the fruit was never forbidden except that Satan said it was - Eve didn't consider it forbidden - God, the one she desired most had say to stay clear and that was good enough for her - but Satan is the one who gives us the notions that things are this or that - and sex for a couple was to be the pleasure of a man and woman - it was designed as a gift of God - not a lustful, disgusting way for people to behave - only after we knew there was evil way, did we know there was an evil in sexual ways as well. So, the reason the story is so unclear is because you've missed the whole point of what God wanted and who He is and what he truly gave us, if we would have just continued to listen - but we have the ability to still do that - even in this sin-filled world. That's what's is absolutely so amazing about God - he didn't set us up to fail- he set us up to be perfect - but we've always had choices and we almost always choose wrong - so when we blame God, it's no different than blaming our parents why our lives are so miserable or why we've lived the way we did - hello! At some point in time we have to stop the blaming and realize, I did this - I made this choice. And I'm the one living the way I do because I choose to allow it. Thank you for this opportunity, I needed to hear my own message. I've been wallowing of late - and I've got to change my choice. I may not have helped you, but you certainly did open my eyes and help me.

1. God created Adam in his own image, not necessarily just like himself.

2. There is only one God and he created everything.

3. God wanted Adam and Eve to remain sinless, or else he wouldn't given exact directions to not eat the forbidden fruit.

4. Satan, through the serpent, brought sin into the Garden of Eden by tempting Eve with the forbidden fruit.

5. Because God gave Adam and Eve free will, the ability to choose their own path, they chose to disobey his warnings about the forbidden fruit. Thus, sin was shared with the whole world and Adam and Eve lost their Garden of Eden paradise.

6. I think God knew that eventually forbidden fruit would be too much of a temptation, and as he wanted to populate the earth, the sexual compatibility between Adam and Eve was purposeful.

7. Whether God has preordained everything is debatable, but he did give humans free will so that we could decide for ourselves what choices we will make in life.

Hi Just_curious,

When it says that man was created in the image of God- it refers the fact that man has moral capacities that resemble their creator. For example it's quite inherent that we know that rape and murder are wrong.

God created sex, and He made it to be in the context of a monogamous marriage relationship. He didn't make it to tempt Adam and Eve. The fact that Adam was lonely showed that man was created to be in relation with one another (that answers some of those people who say they can believe in God but want to be isolated from other believers) and that's also why the Bible has so much to say regarding how man ought to relate to one another.

God never really answers as to why the forbidden fruit was created but the Scriptures testify that God is not the one who tempts us. Clearly Adam and Eve was tempted by Satan and by their own desire to be like God (knowing the difference between good and evil) up until that point everything that was created and everything that they saw was good.

Hope that helps... this is a very abbreviated answer- but feel free to email me with any more questions: nicksterlee@yahoo.com

I'm going to answer your question with another question: Which story of creation in the Bible do you belive? There are two, one right after the other, and they contradict. The first one is the "let the be light" story, where God creates everything and then creates man - saying "be fertile and multiply" with no specifics on how many and nothing stating that they are in paradise. The second is the Adam & Eve story about Eden and forbidden fruit, where everything else is created after them. Since the Bible starts off by contradicting itself then the conclusion is: they are stories - a stories with a strong message - but stories. Most modern stories have huge plot holes too (just look at most movies)

Ok, the Holy Father's of the Eastern Orthodox Church say, that when Adam and Eve where first created, they could procreate, like the angels. Whatever that means. Simply, our bodies because of the fall, are not originally what they were in the beginning. Jesus' body is not like ours now, he has a glorified body.

Does that mean our bodies are evil? No, our bodies are good, unlike the Romans and the Protestants, the Eastern Orthodox do not believe people were born evil.

Because of the fall, we now procreate in fleshly manner. It wasn't the original plan, though.

That is why the Apostles talked about staying virgins, and those who were able and had willing partners to live with their spouse as if they were brother and sister, and not engaging in sexual activity. Because that lifestyle is the closest to what was originally intended, and closest to what will eventually be.

Just don't assume that what we are right this minute is what we should have been. God took on this humility of becoming man, in this state and made us, even in this state to be holy. What a merciful God indeed.

First, God created Him in his image. God is a Spirit not human.
Man was created with the ability to think, to feel, to love etc. This is the image. Not physical.
God wanted Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply (have children) so he made man and woman to do so. Having sex in the confines of marriage isn't sin. It is something that God created within male and female. To marry , enjoy sex with each other and to have children.
Sin did not come into the world because of sex. It came into the world because Adam and Eve were given the rules and they disobeyed them (do not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil).
God gives us freewill. He did not create man to be a robot. He wanted man to freely serve Him. So God gave man the ability to choose. God did not "set" man up. He gave him the rules and it was up to man.

The Creator whose Name is Yahweh created man in His image. That means that Yahweh has a body which includes a head, eyes, feet, etc. The Creator has Laws which He lives by and instructs his creation to follow also. These Laws are designed to bring health, joy, and peace to the practioner of them. Yahweh gave these Laws to Adam and Eve in the beginning. Yahweh told his creation to reproduce but to follow the instructions within His Law to keep mankind safe and healthy while doing so. The practices of fornication and adultery are forbidden for mankind according to the Creator, Yahweh. Finally, "the forbidden fruit" is symbolic language for sin, which is the breaking of Yahweh's Law.

There are a few fallacies with the question (and its context).
First, God (in that original Hebrew text) is plural. There are male and female spirit beings in scripture.
As for an sexual opportunity existing between them, sex in an of itself is not wrong (sin). It is the misuse of it that is sin. For mankind to replenish the earth, did not Adam and Eve need to have sex?
As for the 'forbidden fruit', would not having it available reduce to man to a 'robotic' existence, rather than giving him a (God trait)choice?

Glad you asked. I believe God gave us the greatest opportunity that we could have ever given. Just like a parent and a child. When a child does right because he or she is told that is good, but when the child makes a decision to do what's right because of thier love for the parent, This brings the parent(s) more joy than if they obeyed because they only knew the "right thing to do".

Basically our true hearts are shown when we make a choice between good and evil. Without the introduction of sin we would just be spiritual robots.

well, u got me on the first one, but sex is not the ''original sin''. God did tell them, before the Fall, to be fruitful and multiply. so it stands to reason that adam and eve knew what those things were meant to do. disobedience is the original sin, and evil exists by default. God created sex not just for procreation, but for a married man and woman to enjoy that closeness that only sex can provide. He made it; married people, enjoy it! lol
