Is it mandatory for the army to give the soldiers a lunch break...my fiance didnt come home for lunch today and he said that he never got a lunch break to call me and let me know. i thought that they had to at least get some kind of break...to eat i mean with every other job there is out there they have to give you a meal break if you work more than 6 hours...is there a law like that for the army?

not only is it not mandatory to schedule breaks/meals, he can be required to go days without down time. My DH has been known to 20 hour days when deployed.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

My husband is in the Army and he doesn't always get a lunch break. He gets one almost every day, but on certain days, like when they are out in the field or doing weapons qualifications they often don't let them take a lunch break, but will pass out some MRE's and give them a few minutes to eat.

The military is not like any other regular job. The government owns the soldier. In a war situation, you think the soldiers will walk off the field saying it's break time? No.

If you think he is a liar & do not trust him, run for your life. I could not imagine not believing my husband of 33 years.

The answer to your question is the rules are set by them, they can & will do what they think is best. I know there have been days that my son was too busy to call or go home to his wife for lunch but he never complained about not eating & she never asked I am sure. Commissioned Officers do not punch time clocks & enlisted men answer to them. He could be telling the truth but it does not matter if you assume he is lying.

In the AF if you are not married then, yes, then must give you time to eat. There is usually a place on base where they can eat that is just for them. It is up to him to ask though. And if he doesn't get the time he has to have the ballls to tell on his supervisor for not letting him eat. (funny how they only care about the single troops eating. hmmmm)

The other guy who answered is stupid... it is the military. They can do what they want. I have alot of family in the military and yes there are days my cousin will not let his guys go to lunch if they are to busy , or will make them work a 18 hour day if he they piss him off. The military makes their own rules. Don't worry.
