I was drinking on the beach, during a very hot day, a month ago. I'm sure they gave me a ticket becasue they know lots of people would be at the beach.

I was on the beach on a very crowded day. I was not publicly drunk, nor was I being a nuisance. In fact, I was quite the gentleman to the cop, and expected him to give me a warning, and/or ask me to dump my drink, or throw away the container. I have nothing on my record since, around 1988 (a speeding ticket.) I am over 21, so it wasn't a case of underage drinking. My friends were drinking the same thing, but were using colored plastic glasses, not a bottle.
To the person who asked why I wasn't swimming, instead of on the beach, I'd suggest you cut down on the fried cheese appetisers, before commenting on sombody's size, okay tubby, which I'm quite trim by the way. Sorry if the picture looks big, but I'm not, okay chunky?

Just because I'm not like 99% of the folks here, who hide behind a dopey avetar, don't feel like you have the right to comment on my boyish good looks, okay sparky?

It depends on many factors, including but not limited to...
a) are you local or a tourist to the beach? If you're a local you stand 1000x better chance of having it dismissed than if you're from out of the area.
b) the judge and his/her mood.
c) if you were really nice to the officer, sometimes they don't even bother to show up in court if you contest it. I was told once that if you plead not guilty and then they schedule the hearing, and you cancel and have it rescheduled, that many time the officer *can't* show up because of his schedule...meaning that you can say whatever you like and the case gets tossed out...but you run the risk of having the officer show up and be pissed because you're jerking him around and they *loathe* going to court.
d) what you use as a defense and how courteous, etc, etc.

Generally, that's a citation in most areas and carries the same weight as a speeding ticket. Judges discretion as to what the exact fine is, but in my area it's from something like $10-$300 depending on the mood of the judge.

Good luck with it.

Admit your guilt. Either the judge with let you off for a good record, or you will get a small fine so who cares? Whatever happens, you'll feel like a man, you'll be able to stand proud, that you are an honest person. Isn't that what matters most? Karma is important here. Good luck.

That is a ridiculous ticket. I think you would spend more fighting it though. I would just pay the fine and be more careful next time. I think this is a case with the cop having too much time on his hands. Good luck.

How about you received the ticket for consuming alcohol in public? Which I have no doubt there is ample signage stating "No alcoholic beverages allowed".

"Gave me a ticket because there would be alot of people at the beach"

Spare us.

Get a lawyer, especially if having a conviction on your record will be particularly bad for you. He/she may be able to get you a fine, but with no conviction recorded.

Good luck, and next time, have one for me.
