Slowly start stealing it from her....she wont notice. If she does, remember, she's old, just tell her its dementia setting in and get a court order to seize all of her assets.
I mean really, whats an old lady need all that money for anyway. I am sure you can think of better uses.

if this is savings that would normally go to the bank. Tell her to buy us saving bonds or put the money in Cd's once in awhile .And only keep what she need for the week in her wallet. and a small about can be left
under the mattress if that makes her happy. Compromise

Open an online account, ex GE Interest plus
It will be hard to do anything with though because if you show up somewhere with a lot of cash at a bank or to get a money order, she will be questioned because they'll think she's trying to launder money.

You could buy her a safe to keep it in, so she won't have to go out and be afraid of banks. She would still have it secured. Just don't let her leave the key where others have access to it. Good Luck with Grandma. Give her a hug from me. Through in a little kiss with that.

Talk to the senior care people in your community. See if you can set up an account that she can get her monthly government checks auto deposited and she can access the funds through an ATM located in a grocery store.
I don't go into banks either, and I never was in one when it got raided. Just don't like them. Don't like post offices, either.

I am sure any bank could help you with this problem. Just give a bank a call and explain the situation.

She should change banks if she doesn't feel comfortable in that one. Get someone to go with her when she needs to go to the bank. You can tell Granny to get "strapped" ( I know this saying is outdated but it fits) and no one will mess with her.
