Drinking lots of water may help dilute gastric acid. A teaspoon of vinegar may help, if you have any at work. I don't believe milk is a good idea. You can try peppermint candy or baking soda. Avoid carbonated drinks. Have you checked with your co-workers to see if anyone has an antacid on them?

As odd as it sounds drink vinegar. I used to have nasty, nasty acid reflux and when I would get it I would take 2 table spoons of the brown vinegar(apple cider vinegar) and it would kill the burning in less then 60 seconds. People will think that I am lying till they have tried it. It works!!!!!

If you have access to milk that may help temporarily. Also if you try to drink lots of water. The milk will coat your throat and the water will dilute the stomach acid. Good luck, heart burn is miserable.

I actually disagree about the peppermint... mints of any kind can CAUSE heatburn and acid reflux. But sugar itself helps, so if you have any fruity candies I'd go for those first.

Try a peppermint candy... I always used to suck on them when I was pregnant and it seemed to help.
