Well, prayer is good for you. This is a proven fact, not just my opinion. It's a form a meditation; it's relaxing, helps to regulate multiple functions within the body, etc.

I think, though, that some poeple pray for dumb things. Praying to win the lottery. Or that some woman will notice you. Silly things. or things that say that you want everything that happens in the world to go your way. It's probably a better idea to pray for wisdom, or strength of character, things that are internalized.

We are to pray for each other as well as our selves. That is one of the things that God told us to do.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Hebrews 13:18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.

This prayer is about ourselves. Where do you get that statement about us not to be praying for our selves?

God wants us to pray. I don't know what you mean by what he told us to do in the first place. Can you fill me in?

It's the difference between believing that your life is up to you, or the decision of someone else.

Should I pray to god for a raise, pray to my boss for a raise, or just work harder?
