I was just wonder how much tricare, dental plan will actually cover. Some say it covers retainers, but not braces. Some say it doesn't cover either. If not how much does it take off the price?

depends on your rank, E-4 and below they will cover more than E-5, you get 2 free cleanings a year and consultation is free but as far as braces and fillings and crowns etc you can end up paying a bunch of money.

Tri-Care is our medical insurance, and United Concordia is the dental insurance.
They will pay some on braces/retainers if you're a dependent under the age of 19, unless they have changed that. It might be 18 now.
I'm a Navy wife and I had braces put on two years ago and the Military is covering the entire cost of them, (Including my retainer I'll have to use after my braces come off) but it's only because we are stationed over seas in Italy. The family members in the States don't see a Navy dentist, only the active duty member does. But overseas, we have to have all dental work done on base. They hold monthly meeting's and the Orthodontics department decide who will and will not get the braces. They pick the worse cases, and that's who receives them.
I'm glad I'm getting mine for free, but I think it's unfair that just because we are stationed overseas they will pay for them, but people stationed in the States don't receive the same privilege that we do.
If you don't have the money that most civilian Orthodontist require for a down payment, because it's usually pretty high, look in your phone-book or do a search on the computer for "Orthodontics Of" and then put whatever State you're in. They are all over the US and they let you make payments on the braces each month, (I think it's a little more then a 100.00 a month) and they take a very small down payment. I also believe that is just over a hundred dollars. I hear they are really good.
Hope this helps!

Tricare doesn't cover anything dental related. United Concordia is the dental insurance. Braces are only covered up to a ceiling, I think $3500, and only if you are under 18. Adults aren't covered at all. Active Duty are covered separeatley, as they are not subject to UCCI.

Going from an E-6 to an E-4? What the devil did he do wrong to get busted that far down? You need to contact Tricare directly and find out from the horses mouth (so to speak).

They cover braces if you are lucky enough to be stationed on or near an installation that provides these services. It is not common though.
