Maybe because its cool...its summer its hot animals need to cool off. If it really bothers you just keep the bathroom door shut..your cat will eventually find a new place to lay.
what kind of meow does your cat give you? a Put me down now or what! my cat has an obsession with meowing when i pet her. Its her way of telling me she likes it.. who knows.. learn to read your cats body language watch his behavior.. just because they cant talk doesnt mean they cant tell you things.

He is sleeping by the toilet because its cool. He has a fur coat, he gets hot. My cat does the same thing. Also my cat is very vocal. She will meow at the wall. Some cats are more vocal than others. Also some cats need more attention. Give him plenty of love. Unless your cat is not eating or is not playful ever or his poo or pee is strange, he is ok. Hes just being a cat.
Good Luck! >^..^<

It might be afraid of something, my dog goes in the bathroom and lays near the toilet when it's a thunder strom, or the cat might be triing to cool of and the toliet is cool agenst it's body or the bathroom is a the coolest room.

He may be feeling insecure. Some animals and cats like to sleep in places that are kind of closed off (for example dens) to offer protection. My cat used to like to sleep under the couch away from the other animals and my puppy liked to sleep under my bed. It (the bathroom) also may be cool there. Also if your cat has any urinary infections they feel comfortable urinating in sinks and in bathtubs for some reason. When my cat was sick she kept sleeping in the bathroom and I noticed cat urine in my sink and bathtub. Turns out she had a urinary infection. Maybe you should take him to the vet just to be safe. Hope this helps.

Why don't you begin by putting the kitty litter in that particular area? When he starts using it, move it away little by little till the kitty litter pan is right where you want it placed. As for the cat following you around, that's normal. Perhaps he wants to play or wants to be held or more importantly, wants to go outside. When I tried to make my cats to stay indoors, one of them peed on my bed.

Do not worry, Cats tend to like odd places, mine likes to curl up on the bathroom vanity, try getting him a kitty condo, a place for him to hide out in!

He's a cat, they do weird stuff. He's laying by the toilet cause it's a cool spot. And he probably does not like to be held, my cat hates it.

He chose it as his spot. It is cooler, warmer, quieter, comfier or something that attracts him. As long as he seems healthy don't worry about it. I have 3 who all sleep in the same spot everynight- one on the bathmat, one at my feet and one in the kitty condo. Cats are creatures of habit and they value their space.
