What is a good cough syrup I have tried some but they are not working?

I have not slept in about 4 days. all i can do is cough. I have tried Tussin dm . I have a cronic cough and can feel the nasal drainage going down the back of my throat.

The on ly medication with a sufficient amount of cough suppressant is only available by prescription. Try some Sudafed, the little red pills, to help contol the drainage opposed to trying to control the cough. You should even try Allegra or Claritin since it sounds like you have allergies. Better to get rid of the cause opposed to only treating the symptoms.

If you can, go to the doctor and get a srcip for Tussionex. It works wonderfully and lasts 12 hours. It can make you drowsy, so be careful until you know what it's going to do to you. Also ask for some Entex. It will dry up your sinuses and keep stuff from draining down your throat into your chest.

I have always used lemon and honey in chamomile tea for coughing and sore throat as well. When I grew up we used cough syrup with codeine but today things are different due to abuse of drugs and addiction knowledge so I stick to the natural way as much as possible. Hope this helps. Also slipperly elm is good for scritchy scratchy from coughing. Most drug stores sell it.

This happened to me once and I tried every OTC medication there was. I was not sleeping for days, I was keeping my husband and family awake, my head hurt from coughing so bad, it was terrible.

I went to the Dr and she prescribed me something with hydrocodone in it and it worked like a charm.

(turns out I had bronchitis so I was put on an antibiotic too)

Vicotusin, you have to get a prescription but it works. It has Vicodin in it so it helps with the pain of the cough and will put you out!

Delsym. It is the best one I have found, tastes fine (I hate the taste of Nyquil) and works for 10-12 hours. Any drug store has it.

my doctor prescribe cherrussin it had codeine in it so that help especially in the night time. Just ask you doctor and mention it to him the name given above I hope you feel better :)
