A truffle, when speaking of chocolate is generally a filled chocolate candy and chocolate is chocolate. It is generally considered fancier to give or serve truffles rather than a plain piece or bar of chocolate but it also depends on the quality of the actual chocolate used. A piece of plain good quality chocolate would be better than a cheap truffle.
