Many companies (in my area) have a program where they donate their computers to poor families and non-profit organizations. Check with some of your larger major manufacturers & companies in your area. ASK- and ye may receive! Its a deduction on their taxes if they donate stuff. If they are upgrading and installing newer equipment you could get lucky. Also check your local paper. Hope this helps.

The Gates foundation does a lot with computer help, obviously. IT may be too large for a single computer request, perhaps talk to a university or other college, they often get new ones annually and sell the others very cheap.

Got an idea. Why not contact a computer builder in your area. They have plenty of 'leftovers' to build usable PC's for peanuts. Maybe if you ask nice even for free.
