There is an electrical switch on each front door lock on this vehicle that signals the alarm system that someone is unlocking the door with a key. The problem is most likely that you have a bad key cylinder switch. A competent technician can test the system with a scan tool, and verify that the switch is indeed defective. Note, it's also possible that a wire for the switch is broken between the driver's door and the a-pillar. This is common on Jeeps, and is the first place I would check. But you'll most likely find a defective switch. HTH!! Good Luck!!

Not sure about Jeeps, but our Chev alarm goes off if you unlock with a key after locking it with the keyless remote.

The alarm is electronic. So if you unluck it via the key thus bypassing the electronic system the alarm computer will not know thus it will see it as a intrusion.

If you have like a lexus the locks have sensors for keyed entries thus you dont' have the problem.

Who, in their right mind, would steal a 93 Jeep?

...not installed properly. or has failed somewhere.
