I am currently studying Korean. I like this language. It is very easy to catch on to, and it is not tone-based. Not to mention the phonetic writing style, and the fact that it is almost like mathematics, you just add stuff, or get rid of stuff, and it's just easy all around. Some things can be difficult, but in general it is easy. I am at the intermediate level right now, and I am doing well. Korean is a no-brainer when it comes to whether or not you should learn it. If you can speak Chinese(Mandarin), then that's a plus, because you will catch on even quicker, since some of the words in Korean are borrowed from the Chinese.

Good Luck to you all that are learning Korean. There is a really good place in the Los Angeles Area that teaches Korean for a very affordable price. Visit this site and check it out.

When I visited Korea for the Olympics and the Koreans found out that I was learning Japanese... they all jumped on the boat and tried to get me to learn Korean as well. From a cursory look at the language... the writing system is much easier than the Hanzi/Kanji characters... but keep in mind that this is one of those 'specialty' languages... basically only spoken in Korea!

Check out the wikipedia... there is a wealth of information about Korean...
