Your whole point is nullified by the fact that very very ignorant and criminal people exist who are not religious at all.

Always. Religion always fights against reason. It has been doing so since it started.
Religion makes claims of absolute truth, then tries to filter out any evidence that contradicts it. Only after being forced to admit new evidence does it go back and "re-interpret" its tenets.
This is the opposite of science, which looks at evidence and tries to come up with theories to explain it, fully realizing that the theories will change with new evidence.
Because of this, they are opposites. Fortunately, the scientific method has proven to be a far more consistent evaluator of truth than religion, which gets pushed back further with each scientific discovery.

It's not really religion in general that I would be afraid of. What's happening lately is that radical right wing politics and fundamentalism are becoming bound in our culture. Many people can't seem to have one without the other. These yeeha's are becoming a growing part of the electorate.
That doesn't mean I agree with the folks who berate all religion and talk about burning all the churches and such. I understand their frustration, however, for the reasons we just talked about. Historically, people need something to believe in. Human nature is not going to change, either.
The best answer would be to teach something good instead of the nonsense that focuses on who goes to hell, who should be demonized, and all that.

I am watching the video but it seems he is trying to say all religion is in a radical form. That is an untruth because if someone follows Christianity in its proper form it is a religion of peace and teaches us that all extremes are bad. Dawkins is also trying to tell you that Science is based on total and complete fact and that is also an untruth science is based on faith in theory. In a way Dawkins is doing the same thing that he telling others not to do. He is also saying science has no real answers but you should still not believe in God because we can not prove he exists or not. As a person who studies Science and religion I can tell you Dawkins has very little knowledge of religion from a theology standpoint as well as a historical.

At this time in history, there is no way we can go back into the dark age....I know there are too many who see the truth about religion and collectively we will not let that happen....Plus, there is plenty of dry stubble around. All we have to do is light a match and the fire will give us light.

Yes little dog, there is a polarization going on with New Agers and Traditionalists. the Traditionalists want to drag us back into the Dark Ages and the New Agers want us to progress beyond what we think we know
Just for the record not all religions are bad just the ones that want to take over the world.

I am on your side here, but you also have to realize that "scientific truth" is as volatile and changeable as "religious truth." Both are human constructs built upon the trends, available information, political climate, and underlying beliefs of the time.

You will see the onset of the dark age when God is excluded from our culture and more diseases, disasters, famine, wars, and the anti-christ who will initiate those who turn from God into his deception. By the way, why would someone risk their eternal destiny on Dockins-who says he's right and we're still waiting for proof not assumption on evolution that is wrongly being taught as factual.

If Dawkins came in dripping wet and whined that it was raining outside I'd go and check for myself.
So no. If Dawkins is saying something I'm disagreeing with it until I find out whose work he is quoting from and passing off as his own.

It's one of my biggest fears. Maybe I'm slow, but it really didn't occur to me until that whole pharmacist/birth control situation. Oy vey!
Perhaps we SHOULD start preaching atheism, as the christians seem to think we're already doing!
