what is dandruff and what causes it?

i have drandruff i iwould like to know the answer to this.

it is when the shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp at an excessive rate, that snowy stuff that falls from scalp to shoulders.
Sometimes you'll have that when you don't shampoo regularly. Use mild shampoo. Also gels, hair coloring stuff and hairspray can cause dandruff. Don't use fitted hats. If you have poor diet, allergies and imbalances/infections in your body, may contribute to dandruff..

Dandruff is one of two things. It can either be from a build up of product in the hair or it is the flaking of skin on the scalp. Most often it is skin flaking. There are two reasons for skin to flake too oily or to dry. You first need to establish your condition oily or dry then you can find a shampoo that will target your need. dandruff is just dry skin. it's when you scalp gets dry then the skin flakes off and is called dandruff. Get Head & Shoulders shampoo or some kind of extra moisturizing.

i think dandruff is just flakes from you dry scalp, but I'm not sure. I have a horrible dandruff problem myself, find a good Dadruff Control Shampoo. I use Pert and Sometimes I also use V05.

It's dry scalp. The white stuff is your skin flaking off. Head and Shoulders works great to clear it up.

simple drandruff is just dry flaky scalp and yo get it because you don't have enough moisture on the scap. if it's more than that, see a dermatologist.

dandruff is dry skin that is coming off your scalp. your scalp is so dry that its shedding the skin. go get an anti dandruff shampoo (selsun blue is a good one) and a special scalp lotion...it really helps clear it up.
