Well I do not know if this is the answer your looking for or expecting, But I feel people speak ill of others because they feel insecure with their own self around those people they are speaking about other then looking deeper in the heart of the person to see who and what they are about. You know some times if people would just listen and see from the heart, they wouldn't miss out on a beautiful relationship with a special friend.

Hi,
They do so because they don't have anything else to do.As they are not intelligent, they cannot make intelligent conversations hence they just talk ill about others and gossip.

Its quite possible that deep within they want to be like you but they cannot hence out of frustration they pull you down.Lack of self confidence, self esteem and respect for the self makes a person do this.Probably they are not self assured.Person who does not respect himself ..How will he respect others?
You have to also introspect and check whether you have really done something ill for them to talk ill.If you haven't then the above mentioned reasons could be true.Honestly speaking we all talk ill about others at some or other point. It comes rebound back to us.God is great. He keeps a watch on every body

Relax ..they who talk ill are at the mercy of God .Take a chill pill.
bye

Generally, people speak ill of others in order to feel better about themselves. However, some people speak ill of others when they have been wronged by that person in some way. Some do so out of jealousy.

This occurs in every walk of life, from infancy to the elderly. In infancy, babies and toddlers are entered into baby shows to prove heir child is the Best.In the elderly, they make fun of people who drool and have o be fed.I am a LPN and I had one incident that is burned into my memory.I had an elderly lady who said the feeders and the ones who drooled made her sick.I told her she should not make fun,b/c she may one day be in their shoes.Sure enough she went into a diabetic coma, and came out confused, disoriented, had to be fed,was incontinent of both bowel and bladder, and she scream non stop . People make fun of others b/c they are insecure within their selves.I t is easier to poke fun at those around them, that may be a little different.

Because others listen to it and it encourages them more. Usually they speak ill of others but at the same time brag about themselves

It's all about knocking down someones ego. We make it a sport at work among each other. Whatever can be said, no holds barred.

As for speaking ill like 'she's a beotch....' or 'he's a prick' or "you shoulda seen.....", it's all about making people like that person less, thus making people think you are cool and "in". Self-Ego problems mostly.

They have lot of problems them self but instead of doing something about it we start talking about other people to make us feel better. Happens all over the world. Looks like it is an human instinct. A bad one.

Because stupid people can only talk about themselves or other people. Smart people talk about ideas. Always consider the source, keep your mouth shut when people start running down someone else....someone in the crowd always has an agenda, bank on that. So very high school.

Small people must diminish others to rather than make the effort to improve themselves. They stir up all kinds of trouble from family and coworker disputes to international conflict. They are in fact a very dangerous crowd. Hitler was the most famous one. Many low level bureaucrats, politicians and and serial killers are in this group.

Could be a couple of things - maybe they were taught that behavior, maybe they have such low self esteem they feel the need to speak bad about others.
