Funny you should say that. Because, that is why people choose not to believe in GOD.
Because they are yellow cowards. They can't say to God, ok, you are real, but I want to do my own thing, and that is that. Nope, they choose the convenient "I am not believing". And they FIGHT with themselves for years over it, in their secret hearts.
They want to do what they want when they want it, and they don't want to answer to anyone no matter who gets hurt in the process, then when things go wrong....THEY WILL BLAME GOD! And say God made them that way. Cowards.

Believers flew planes into the world trade center buildings.
Believers blew up abortion clinics.
Believers do not hold a monopoly on choosing right over wrong.
When is the last time you heard of anyone blowing up anything in the name of athiesm?
Atheists use ethics based on the social contract.
We Are Atheists Because...
* There is no proof of the existence of god.
* There is no need of, or use for, a god.
* A good god would be useless if it were not powerful.
* A powerful god would not deserve worship if he were not good.
* There is no all-powerful good god; otherwise there would be no imperfection.
* If this is the best world god can make, the stories of Heaven must be lies.
* History shows that godism is accompanied by ignorance and superstition.
* There has never been such intolerance and persecution as godists have practiced.
* Godism had to be fought when humankind made its successive steps toward science, liberty, and reform.
* Godism was invented in the earliest days of mankind's ignorance. It is incredible that primitive humans guessed wrongly about everything else, but discovered the truth about the origin of life. Everything about which science has discovered the origin was claimed previously to have been the work of a god. Godism recedes when a new fact is discovered. No new discovery ever supports a theistic explanation of anything.
* All revelation proves, on investigation, to be human, and generally fraudulent.
* Godism is consistent with crime, cruelty, envy, hatred, malice, and uncharitableness.
Atheism Teaches That...
* There is no heavenly father.
Humankind must protect the orphans and foundlings, or they will not be protected.
* There is no god to answer prayer.
Man must hear and help man.
* There is no hell.
We have no vindictive god or devil to fear or imitate.
* There is no atonement or salvation by faith.
We must face the consequences of our acts.
* There is no beneficent or malevolent intent in nature.
Life is a struggle against preventable and unpreventable evils. The cooperation of humankind is the only hope of the world.
* There is no chance after death to "do our bit."
We must do it now or never.
* There is no divine guardian of truth, goodness, beauty, and liberty.
These are attributes of humankind. We must defend them or they will perish from the earth.
Have a nice day!

No. You are making the mistake in thinking that only God allows anything. In fact, there is no god and certain things are still not allowed.
The purpose of morality is to allow people to live amongst each other. It is a general set of rules that everybody comes up with for themselves (whether or not they base it on what others say).
When two people interact, they decide on a common morality for that interaction. It can be simple, like the general civility one gives to a person on the street, or complex, like a parent or lover. If you cannot come up with that common morality with someone then your interaction with them will be very limited.
In society, that common morality is incorporated into the laws of that society. Nobody usually agrees with all of the laws, and the laws evolve over time as society changes. But those laws give a default common morality that people use to interact with each other.
Because this is so important to a society, it is heavily enforced. The more important a law is to people, the more resources are dedicated to enforcing it. Those values change over time, too.
Therefore, even without a god (and there really isn't any), not everything is permitted. Perhaps if you were a hermit, they would be. But whenever you live amongst other people, you have to deal with those people.

Whether God exists or not, you will still suffer the consequences if you do something harmful to yourself. And if you harm someone else, there is the chance of getting caught and punished for breaking rules that are made by man; their called the law.

You don't need God to tell you if something is right or wrong. You need you r conscience and good value judgement. If you have no brain then I suppose everything is permitted.
