My brother and his girlfriend have been dating for about 6 years, about 2 years ago, she broke up with him because she decided she was gay. Well, she couldn't get a cell phone in her name because of her bad credit, so he put it in his name. Well she she decided she was gay, she had the phone shut off and left the phone for him to pay the bill that she RAN up! He didn't have the money so I loaned him the $400 and took over the contract. Well they are back together, and she still owes me $400, I haven't really said anything to her about it....but I want my money!! what should I do?

Your brother is the only one that owes you money not the girl. and if he wants to charge her thats on him but he still owes you the money.
She went to him to get a phone and he got it for her . She runs up a bill and then leaves him with the bill. He goes to you for a loan. You lend him the money to pay the bill. So he owes you the money and not her. Now if she would of gone up to you for the loan then it would be another story. But she didnt . Tell your brother when can he start making payments on the 400 you lent him for the phone bill. By the way if she were lesbian she wouldnt be with your brother but she could be bi. And really now what does her sexual preference have to do with the phone bill. Also why didnt your brother tell her to go and get a prepaid phone for starters. He wasnt thinking now was he. Just like he isnt thinking about paying you back either.

You aren't likely to see that money come back to you. When a birthday or Christmas comes around, wrap up a note that forgives a portion of the money your brother (yes, your brother) owes you. Make a point of never loaning out money. If it isn't a gift, you can't afford to loan it out.
Anybody who will run up a phone bill like that knowing they cannot pay it will never re-pay the person who took care of their debt. I've been in similar situations a few times.

No. You loaned money to your BROTHER. HE has to pay it back. Plus, if you took the contract, you assumed responsibility for the phone. His girlfriend has nothing to do with this anymore.

That's hard because money issues in family usually always cause problems. You could try talking to both of them, but you may hurt your relationship with your brother.
What was the agreement at the time you loaned him the money?
See she might say, " I didn't borrow the $ from you, he did!"
If you and your brother had a certain agreement then you could talk to him and say, "We agreed on.....this."
Good Luck!!!!!!!

i would gently remind your brother that you paid the $400 for them so that his credit wouldn't get ruined and that you could really use the money back, see if he can start paying you back. remind him it was his girlfriends bill to start with. good luck

Confront her about it. Do it calmly and dont yell. If she refuses then get all up in her face and yell at her. IF she still dosent listen to you, then push her around and harass her until she pays you. Honestly if she sues you for some stupid harassing charges, who do you think will win? You will, she owes you $400!

If she won't pay the bill, take her to small claims court for the bill. "Whooping" has nothing to do with the dispute.
