I've had a discussion like this before with my friend. Our question was what would happen to a human's soul if they get brained damage, since they are only the same genetically not mentally. We assumed the soul of the person would have passed the same as if their own body had died as well. Obviously it must be the same case here. The husband she married isn't there anymore. As far as percentages, who would know , but I know what i'd do personally. It's a totally different person with a totally different soul and thusforth a totally different outcome in life. There is no obligation besides putting their body to rest and making sure it's in peace. In other words in this case, it'd be making sure he gets the proper care he needs and moving on with life. Staying would simply make you miserable. There's no point in that.

Marriage doesn't stop because the husband or spouse is a virtual vegetable. Look at the case in Florida. What your dear friend needs to do is to determine whether her husband will get any better or not. Then she has to make the decision to "Do not Feed, Do not resuscitate, Do not medicate"

If he should die from that, then she is free and able to be with other people. Until his death, she is till married to him.

Whether the precentage is 1 in 100 or 100 out of 100 it doesn't matter. In God's eye she is till married to him and realtions with another man is Adultry. She took a vow UNTIL DEATH DO US PART. His brain my not be functional but as long as his heart beats, he is living.

No offense and in being cynical, but would the brain damaged person ever know their spouse left?

Personally, I believe in euthanasia. I would not like to live my life completely on life support and not knowing or controlling myself. This kinda goes back to "I think therefore I am." If you loose the facility to think, are you then, still a person?

It's too much thinking for it to be friday, I'll leave it at that, I want to spare my brain cells.

I have an agreement with my husband.
We could not live like this. We would fly over to La Suisse, book intoa euthanasia clinic and die with dignity....
Sniff, sniff.
For us - the answer would be 0/100.
