hard liquor doesn't get stronger or weaker as it ages. After it leaves the barrel, no other flavors are gained or lost, no alcohol is gained or lost. It sits there at exactly the same state as it was when it was bottled for a very, very long time.

It gets weaker because of the following reasons:
- density of alcohol is lower than that of water, hence more molecules of alcohol above;
- alcohol is evaporating while you are drinking;
- whisky is going diluted by your spittle if you are drinking from the neck

If my memory serves me correct I believe whisky gets stronger with aging.

actually once you open it the alcohol stars to evaporate so after time it will stay the same you will just have less also it stops aging once it is removed from the wooden barrels it is fermented in once it is in a bottle it isn't going to get better
