OMG, is it just me who observed this? There are many who agreed with me in the party the other day. They detailed their personal experiences and I found them so hilarious.

I defended them by saying it is not good to generalize any one group (I am not Chinese or Oriental). But, I personally have experienced bad driving from this one class of people who are oriental looking. Am I wrong? What are your experiences? Isn't it common to show courtesy to those who share the road?

Please comment. Thanks for your answers in advance.

OK, OK, read it "Asian". Nothing racist intended. Pls. Note: I said I defended Asians at the party. If anything intended, I am sure I would laughed with them.

I think this question is a valid question even though some may interpret it as racist - I am engaged to a chinese woman and we have had some funny conversations about how asians drive - the asians that drive the worst are usually older folks - in most parts of Asia, they have traffic circles and very congested traffic which means that they are not used to driving with other vehicles that go 35 mph or faster - most older asian folks have grown up driving under these conditions so they develop very aggressive driving habits in slow driving conditions - when you put them here on the freeway or even on main boulevards with super fast traffic that they are not used to, they tend to make very bad driving decisions

Let me just explain to you that China is a very small country with a gigantic population. You have people everywhere that are rubbing shoulders on the street. Mosly they are a culture that walks everywhere they go.
The people who do drive have very narrow streets and are sharing those streets with the pedestrians and bikers. You have no choice but to be a little intimidated behind the wheel there. As far as the way they drive here, I don't really have an opinion toward them being any worse than any other particular driver out there on the road who may or may not have gotten there license from a bubblegum machine perhaps.

I think it depends on what you see as bad -

Left lane at 10 miles slower than everyone else

Lane change with no signal

????

What about the wild young boys and girls that I see daily weaving in and out only to get there at the same time as I do

The new "politically correct" way is today is Asian. Anyway, only the ones the come from over there. The ones that are not used to drive in cars in traffic.

What a rude question. By the way, the term "oriental" isn't PC. Use Asian.

I'm sure there are stereotypes for whatever nationality you are.
