The direct approach is the best one for this. You may have tried being nice to him at first not giving him the full story, that may have been where you went wrong. Explain to him, in detail, that you are not interested in him now and won't be in the future. I'm not saying be mean, but get the entire point accross. Don't stop until he fully understands that you will not ' go out ' with him.

Dont try to make him jealous cause that is just making it worst.
talk to him tell him you don't like him at all so please stop bothering me, and waisting my time because your never going to like him. For guys its harder for them to understand that there not wanted by a girl
