Yesterday I went to the hospital just to get a peice of paper to say I am pregnant.I told him that I had passed out (lied). They ran an EKG on me, did a pelvic and an u/s. When they did the ultrasound they said the baby had a strong heartbeat (120) and that I was 5 weeks. He told me at the end that I have a small Subchroinic Hemmorhage. Im kind of scared cuz I had a miscarriage 2 years ago on Febuary 18, 2004 and the doctors told me that I have an incompetent cervix. So far I havent seen any real blood, I just have brown discharge and little bad cramps. Something telling me to go on with the pregnancy and pray to God that everything will be okay. Then there is another side of me telling me to go have an abortion so I wouldnt go through this pain again. My 21st Birthday is next month I need some comfort and reassurance. Will I be okay If I go on with this pregnancy?

"A subchorionic hematoma or hemorrhage is a sequestration of blood within the folds of the developing placenta. It usually has no relationship to the growing fetus and causes no danger. It usually dissipates on its own within a few weeks. As long as the bleeding has lessened and the fetus is showing adequate growth with a good heartbeat, please do not worry. It should resolve on its own."

"You are correct that there is a higher risk of miscarriage with a subchorionic bleed, but for the majority of those who have such bleeds, everything turns out fine. The brown spotting you notice is old blood escaping. The fact that they saw a fetal heartbeat is also reassuring. "

"During the formation of the placenta, there is often a sequestration of blood within the folds of the placental membranes (between the chorion and the amnion). This is a "subchorionic hematoma" or a "subhorionic bleed". It usually resolves on its own and does not usually cause any effect on the pregnancy. It should disappear by your 20th week and does not have to produce any bleeding from your vagina. Don't worry about it."

First of all I want to tell you that I hope all goes well with your pregnancy. I had three miscarriages before I ever conceived and now I have number four on it's way. All I can advise is for you to stay away from any strenuous activities and be careful when you lift things. You may be able to carry this little life within you. You will never know if you get an abortion. God gave you that little life and if he decides to take it away then leave it up to him. Don't take it upon yourself. You heard for yourself, that little life has a very strong heartbeat. I do believe that life begins at conception and I think that you need to wait and see what God has planned for you. I will pray for you and that baby. Good luck and God bless you.
PS. Cramping plays a huge role in all of my pregnancies. All women carry different. And 120 is a good heart rate, all babies have different heart rates so don't believe whoever said that okay. Also if they did an ultrasound then they saw the heartbeat I'm sure. Keep your head up sweetie.

If you have an incompetent cervix, there is a procedure called a "circlage" that can help. At a certain number of weeks, a doctor will place a number of stictches on your cervix keeping it closed for the majority of your pregnancy. Once you reach the near end, he will remove the sutures and let nature take its course. you should look into it...

Don't worry about the subchorionic hemorrhage. I am a labor and delivery nurse. I had one recently and so did a friend of mine. We both delivered full term, perfectly healthy babies. It is not necessarily the best thing to have, but you have a very good chance of carrying a full term healthy baby. Be prepared to know that you may miscarry, but don't give up on your pregnancy. There is an excellent chance everything will be OK.

You should definitely go through with the pregnancy. Everything happens for a reason & you should be strong for whatever the outcome is. Make sure to get plenty of rest. You might need to see a therapist & they'll help you feel better.

You need to consult with an OB doctor and do not abort...let nature do what it has to do because you never know. Abortion is killing a living being,
