Yes, the religious code of conduct was always intended on its people for observing social discipline. For example, the Holy Quran prohibits a person to marry with his own mother, own mothers sisters, the female progeny born from the same womb from where you have come, etc. etc. That means before it was forbidden, such practises were prevailing in the Arabic society that Prophet thought it proper to injuct by religious strictures. Like wise, in every society there are numerous examples to show that religion is a basically a disciplining agent for the society.

Sometimes it is but for the most part it is to set some sort of structure in life. It really depends on which religion you're talking about. Scientology is very controlling and demanding so it is concidered a cult. For the most part Christianity preaches freedom to make your own desisions using the judgement of the holy spirit that all christians have. If you go against the spirit of God you can be forgiven as long as you have an ernest heart. I personally don't feel controlled AT ALL. Making death threats or threats of torture if you do not do what you're told woudl be control and that is what cults do.

Like any other aspects a good concept and be deviated to suit certain peoples conveniences and give it a bad name. the purpose of religion is to keep people under certain moral boundries but over the years it has been manipulated by so many wrong people that we have to answer questions like this.

Yes . It has controlled people , society , and Kingdoms. It was meant to create an orderly society. It was invented by some brilliant person , in such a way that man lives in the belief (though false ) that he woud have a life after death and that he would be punished if he does not hurts others in teh society. The very existence of the multiple religion is a positive proof of the fac that there is no God . If God wer there as propounded by the various religions , men would not be killing each other and innocent children and women who are inno way concerned with him. They ae people who do not really elieve in teh existenxce of God and they use religion to kill people .
Everybody knows that there are millions who do believe in the hindu Gods . so also there are people who do not believe in Jesu . So also there are millions who do not believe in Allah .Millions do not elieve in th oter Gods also . It is equaklly a fact that all these people who do not beliefe in these gods are living , perhaps even happily. But none of these people cah live even for a few minutes withour Air . Even those who proclaimed to e God incarnate have been breathing air to live and died when they forgotto breath.So no one candeny that Air is the Goid og Gods as it sustains life . There is no proof that any oth these 'gods save life . For all those who believed in the these Gods have also died for want of breathing only.

Now in the presetn world religion is irrelevant as killins are done in t4h name of religion. So kill religion to ensure peace and amity among people of all region. Fior this beauthy every body has - maybe some people hav even better things in their body . every everybody was born without cloth only bu t animals that do not know how to make clothes remain without them . But humans have come a long way and have invented clothes even to protect the modesty of the Gods who continue to create humans naked .! So humans can cover it up or else every thing society will be direty and infected with HIV viruses .

I would think. I used to go to church but stopped because. . . Lets get back to the question. After I stopped going to church my aunt started to come over ( She's a religion freak ) and she bring these dvd's with her that explained how everyone was special and how God loved everyone. I would have to endure this crap for three hours straight.
